algebra testes posted:Ahh we need a new racing bike thread. Yeah - I’ve noticed there’s discussion between Cycle Asylum, the F1 thread (and their predilection for red Italians) and sometimes even here. I’m willing to say we include MotoGP in this thread or put up a MotoGP thread in SAS, because I’m not sure there’s as much crossover between CA and SAS posting tone, if that makes sense. Might go poke my head into the F1 thread and judge interest. WindyMan posted:Supercross 2021: It's a GasGas! I knew this post would come.

Also everyone's favorite "and also on this weekend" series, the 24 HR series is back with the 12 hours of Mugello, 4 hours friday, 8 hours saturday. It's a pretty amateur field, without many pros because they're all at... The First Round of The NLS series. I like the NLS series but I understand it's a very abstract series in that you obviously don't see the cars through the ring most of the time but the RLMs team are chill to hang out with and it's usually free on Youtube to watch. algebra testes fucked around with this message at 11:59 on Mar 26, 2021 |

In a shocker of shocks, IMSA is gonna grant GM a waiver to run a laughably detuned C8R in GTD Pro. They will need to give back about 5 seconds in lap time at Sebring, and 4 seconds at Daytona with a much shorter lap so uh... yeah. To be fair, going to spec rubber (if GTD Pro goes that way) will likely take a huge bite out of their grip. https://racer.com/2021/03/29/corvette-expected-to-get-waiver-to-allow-gtd-pro-move/

IMSA has allowed BMW to run something Not GTE in GTLM in the past, so I'm honestly not shocked they're allowing the Corvette to be de-tuned. It was the most likely scenario because I didn't think GM wanted to develop the GT3 customer racing business structure that like the VAG brands/Mercedes have, so it's not like this has to be a GT3 car you see everywhere else around the world. as long as it's in the same window I think it'll be fine. non-confidential tires will definitely do that too.

|
I think the spec rubber will almost certainly get them close. The big places that GTLM has the advantage are the tires, aerodynamic efficiency with their huge diffusers (although the current crop of GT3s aren't far off), and a little bit of engine power, but I think most of it is tires. Those confidential Michelins are absurdly good.

Super Formula starts this weekend! For those that haven't heard of it before, it used to be Formula Nippon, and before that Japanese F3000/F2. The series can trace its lineage back to the 1970s, and while it's not quite as wild as the late '80s/early '90s (with open chassis and engine rules, tons of tobacco money and a tire war) it's still one of the two top racing series in Japan, along with Super GT. The teams use a spec Dallara chassis with Yokohama rubber and slightly re-worked versions of Honda and Toyota's Super GT GT500 turbo four-cylinder engines. They have push to pass and some requirements about pit stops, but otherwise it's good open-wheel racing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdJRbgownbM I think the race will come up on the YouTube channel eventually, but they also are on Red Bull TV online or on their app. Live worldwide with English commentary. [edit] vvvvvv I'm pretty sure it's just Red Bull TV carrying the feed Super Formula produces for Japan but with English commentary, similar to Super GT on YouTube for the rest of the world. speaking of which I haven't heard or seen who's carrying Anime GT this year, will have to keep a lookout for that. harperdc fucked around with this message at 08:04 on Apr 4, 2021 |

Hello, new to the thread & I see a lot of circuit racing discussion and I was curious - does anyone follow / enjoy FIA world rallycross? New season starts in a couple months and getting a discussion going would be fun for those that follow (or are new to the sport). It's technically circuit racing but I didn't know if it warranted a new thread; I'm guessing it doesn't.

I watch WRX occasionally since it's on free TV in the UK, it's one of those series' I always enjoy watching but never remember its on though. This is the thread for it though, WRC stuff goes in here too.

Cool, good to know! From what I've seen, the events are posted on youtube on their official channel, though I usually have to use a VPN for the semis & finals since I'm in the US (I didn't have to last season, though). Here's the schedule for the interested: RX1 = RX Supercar RX3 = S1600 ![]()

https://jalopnik.com/its-probably-time-to-repave-sebring-1846489631 I have found it, the wrongest hot take in endurance racing. Yes I know it's a month old but drat. "Repave sebring because it's better when more cars finish within 1/10 of a second of the leader vs finishing in the garage with a broken suspension arm"

That article was dumb and reading it at the time I was heartened that all the comments were calling the writer a dipshit.

I love that the loving video he put in there refuted why sebring should be repaved https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzVv1DyoJ6g If you remove all the bumps, Sebring is a flat, boring track that will be min-maxed to the point where the track and race is irrelevant. The draw of the race is that if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

Brownell might be an okay writer but Jesus Wept he has some absolutely abysmal takes on racing, especially endurance racing.
