I think I like Jack a little more since she's so good in her short time in ME3. Miranda is cool too.

I'm not worried, she'll be touched by an Archangel. I decided to go with Miranda, since I've romanced Jack before. Also Miranda's armor matches mine.

I've said a few times that it's weird Jack doesn't get some scary power like Flare. Now I realize she has a scary power, it's called Warp Ammo. It was worth dumping Energy Drain to pick that one up.

After dying a dozen times during Miranda's loyalty mission, it finally clicked for me that Infiltrators are meant to run around the map hunting enemies, not take cover in one place and hold the line. That would work on normal difficulty, but not when every enemy can take at least two headshots from the Mantis. I use the Mantis almost exclusively, and I hate it.

I'm doing another playthrough of romancing Kaiden, leaving him to die on Vermire, then romancing Garrus. I've never done a Garrus romance before because I've always been happy that Garrus and Tali got together.

Maybe I should bring Dr. Michel to the Normandy in 3 to extra Garrus love triangle drama?

Does the Widow have diminishing returns on higher difficulties? I'm wondering if it's worth it for an Infiltrator to take the Widow at the Collector Ship or take assault rifles so they can use the Mattock.

I let 'em burn this time around. Not my mission, not my probably. Renegade baby!

I think I need to use the Locust more. (The Cloak gives its damage bonus to all my shots for 2.5 seconds, am I right?)

Cryo Ammo is total bullshit and I should dump it, right? Disruptor/Warp seems like the way to go.

Disruptor and Warp are best vs synthetics and organics, respectively, but I prefer tungsten ammo because of its raw "gently caress your armour" capability.

I went through most of my last soldier playthrough using incendiary and disruptor ammo. Didn't try warp till the end because I didn't appreciate how good it was. Still something very gratifying about setting Cerberus grunts on fire though.

Y'know, I don't really notice the slowdown from the Operative ability at all. I guess it's just subtle and I'm a lousy shot.

Cryo and Shredder both seem like bullshit to me, at least on Insanity. I don't really need a tactical solution to killing unprotected enemies. They're the polar opposite of Warp Ammo, where the special ability is meaningless (I don't need to do more damage to floating enemies) but the across-the-board damage boost more than makes up for it.

in me2, cryo ammo is alright but situational - mostly for when you're fighting a ton of enemies (and/or they have melee guys closing in), and you also have efficient ways of stripping shields/barriers/armour; you just wing an undefended enemy once with a decent gun and they're out of action for a bit, letting you focus elsewhere

iirc you can trivialize the 2nd half of big enemy fights like geth primes or w/e by tapping them with cryo ammo 'til they can't fight back anymore, husks also instantly die when frozen

in me3 cyro ammo has more gimmicks like slow down, frozen enemies take more damage, bonus headshot damage, your ammo capacity is enlarged (cold ammo produces less heat for thermal clips), and it sets up for tech combos; it's much more of a valid all round choice in that one

shredder ammo's pretty underwhelming tho, the only time i got a decent result with shredder ammo was with an engineer, they have really limited access to guns but a good range of abilities for dealing with defensive layers so i appreciated the extra damage, but even then the dmg boost was so marginal compared to other ammo abilities that you might as well take those for extra versatility

It's honestly kind of tiresome on Insanity when you ragdoll enemies with a headshot six times before they die. I made a point of getting out of the Mako and killing everything with my rifle for the experience--and was almost done with the replay before I learned that LE doesn't penalize you for killing everything with the tank guns. Whoops.

EDIT: Evidently not because according to Frosty Mod Manager, every single mod on that list does not work with the current version of the game. FMM will not let the game launch as a result.

Wow, the Viper is waaay more forgiving than the Mantis and I enjoy it a lot more. Nonetheless, I went with the Widow instead of assault rifles or shotguns. Because the GPS is ugly and the Widow is black and matches my cool spooky black armor.

Now I need to change my armor highlights from orange to blue, so that the light from my ammo power always matches.

I still stand by Andromeda being a good/decent game and it doesn’t need mods. Just don’t be afraid to skip a lot of side content. But the party quests, movie night, Ark quests and main quests are all decent-to-great content.

I never liked the incisor. The three round burst was overkill for most enemies and wasted ammo. With Garrus it's a terrific gun but I'd rather use the Widow or feather my shots with the Viper.

I've been watching Woolie Vs. and he's been playing Mass Effect 2 with a custom class. How easy is it to mod the legendary edition games so I could do a similar class?

I'd disagree a bit tbh, and say that modding more skill points seemed to feel pretty good (admttedly I ended up not using a bunch of the skills I took because the switching time delay was so long that I just stuck to one powerset - but the unmodded seems like you might be left a bit short if you don't specialise a lot) and pretty much any mods that reduced crafting bullshit were great. Unless you are super into crafting and resource collection, obvs. The rest though, could take or leave for sure. I certainly enjoyed the party quests and the main quests, and just picking and choosing ones that sounded interesting or were nearby tho. I never finished the movie night tho, probably should have but I kept forgetting about the next stage of it and then ended up finishing the game. So so so many unfinished side quests though. If that bothers you or you're a completionist, seriously don't play Andromeda.

Given how trivial respeccing is, I don't feel like having to specialize is a terrible thing. At worse a minor inconvenience of backtracking so you can get to the not-normandy and some cash

While I'm not the biggest fan of Mass Effect 2's gunplay or the way it ends up pigeonholing moral choices going into ME3, I do appreciate the streamlining of the level up system to encourage you to pick particular builds rather than letting you do everything. When you give people too much choice they end up going for the path of least resistance and it all feels samey, which I felt is a big problem with Andromeda's combat.

Hard disagree but only for the mods that drastically decreases the time it takes to land on and leave planets and to make SAM shut up.

The rest are just for fun.

It's been a while but ME:A really really needs a gun range mod so you don't have to build a gun, go down to a planet, then go to the wild area before you can find out what happens when you put a particular mod on a particular gun.

I'm still staggered that they wrote/directed SAM, who was supposed to be a case for a genuine brain linked AI and transcendent form of new life, to sound like a totally emotionless / chirpy personal assistant.

He has less character than ME2 EDI, who is supposed to have been built as a shackled electronic warfare bot.

I kind of get it though. EDI was her own individual being with her own experiences whereas SAM is meant to be more of a symbiotic being kind of piggybacking off of yours. I would have liked some development but it kind of makes sense that he feels a little more "incomplete" on his own.
