it's remarkable because apex's playercount has been genuinely quite durable despite the playerbase doom n glooming for years, this is the first time I've actually seen the playercount crater. and losing fully 50% of your players in a matter of months is a big deal btw that's not hyperbole, 430k average (which they'd been around for ages) steadily down to 215k

I think a lot of people just got tired of different recurring issues at the same time. I really like the new map too and the game does feel a little better for the first time ever but they probably can’t win most of those people over again. Respawn coulda been on top of the world if they’d listen to me!! Instead the idea of a fun fps is going to fade away for good when apex is converted to a mobile gacha in 2 years.

Biggest issues I have against the current season is they probably should of gone further with aim assist and just removing peripheral swapping in ranked mode if not outright separating console/pc queues, second biggest knock is the current state of longbow/repeater/charge rifle is so bad they might as well not take up loot space in place of sentinels and scouts, also akimbo's probably shouldn't have access to hammerpoints because their ttk is so fast. Second biggest issues would be those constant server problems popping up every few games lagging out the entire lobby or isolated teammates, though it's gotten less frequent. On another note I've been having some fun with the none-BR modes like deathmatch and the new lockout, but I really got to question how in 2024 we don't have the ability to customize our deathmatch gun loadouts and instead have to pick from a selection of pre-designed loadouts that are largely poo poo and 1-2 loadouts with double meta guns that everyone rolls with.

I'm sad it took videos going viral of controllers ignoring aim flinch before they changed it after years of controllers having that level of aim assist advantage, if the only fix for it was to remove it all together so be it, it wasn't super fun to have your crosshair jump to the skybox while the controller 1 clipped you.

imo, aim flinch is a really bad mechanic. the whole point of fps in not-vr is that your crosshair is always in the middle of the screen so you can aim your shots properly lmao you're already moving slower if you're getting shot meaning the only possible defense is shooting back. and aim flinch prevents even that, especially on low rate of fire weapons

Space Hunt Event Sept. 17 - Oct. 8th Knockout LTM - Trios BR without normal eliminations, capture zones and collect EVO for points, 5 lowest scoring teams are removed each round. Final round is basically normal BR. Free Legends - Unlock Crypto and Wattson by completing trials if you don’t already have them. Cosmetics - The usual paid stuff, shop-style free rewards, and a new universal mythic. Patch Notes - They exist

The cheating situation is absurd, kinda wondering if I should just go back to console. Had a level 1 lifeline aimbotting and walling in TDMs earlier and that’s not even getting into all the sus players in diamond ranked. Idk how many people went to console from PC but that could also be affecting the stats (assuming they’re using steam player base or something).

I guess they updated EAC a few days ago and now I get this popping up: This comes up several minutes after I've closed the game, everything's fine while the game is running, I can play etc. The only other error I've had with EAC until now was if I don't wait a couple seconds after closing a different game that uses it, but the error message when that happens is pretty clear (something like 'different version is already running')

Disclaimer: I am dog poo poo at this game. The new LTM is terrible. Even if you are a god at Apex I don't know how you reliably fend off streams of teams respawning, landing directly behind you on point, and shoving akimbo mozams up your rear end while you are already fighting a team for control. The two times I got to sudden death round was by sheer luck. Okay, one of those rounds was because both teammates were active on comms and had good ideas on where we should go and we all moved together. A true solo q nightmare, worse than usual.

Anyone using the CAR or Prowler lately? The last couple seasons these are the only two guns I actively go out of my way to avoid using. Even the P2020 is decent now with Akimbo, and I'm a reasonably good shot with pretty much every single sniper.

The CAR is supposed to have great TTK but I always seem to lose duels with enemy at 1 hp and me on the floor. Maybe someone who has practiced recoil control with it specifically can weigh in  To your point about snipers, I'm actively going out of my way to pick up Sentinels this season. Sentinel + Akimbo mozams + as many cells as I can find is my favorite loadout.

If you actually hit all your bursts then Prowler has great TTK and I will definitely choose it as a secondary if things permit. CAR as well but as mentioned its recoil requires something else or luck. CAR also bugs me because it can't take a laser sight but I know that's for balance reasons.

My absolutely wrong opinion is that the CAR should limit which type of ammo you are ABLE to use depending on the ammo-type of mag you have in it  also naming a gun "the CAR" when they name the vehicles "tridents" is diabolical

Haven't played Apex in a few weeks but dropped back in to test the new LTM and unlike the other posters ITT I thought it was fun. Very high paced, non-stop shooting, and the areas to capture are for the most parts placed so a defending team can't just turtle up in there and need to very actively fight for their claim the whole time they're sitting on it. When the zones change in the middle of back spawning in it was rather challenging trying to control your flight, read the map to decide where to go, and communicate with the team at the same time though. It did suck whenever people quit mid-game as you don't really stand a chance at zone defense without the manpower of a full squad.

The dual mozam are just so OP that it almost seems like a throw to pick up any SMG, even on roller. Prowler is ok but I’d much rather have a volt. The CAR is just bad now, though I’d take it over an alternator.

It's feeling weird that it's taking such a long time to get queues even though Steamcharts says there's over 200 thousand players on PC right now (which suggests that it not being peak hours shouldn't be a problem). I pretty much can't get Knockout queues so I don't think I'll be able to do these quests without logging onto primetime hours. Been in queue for regular trio normals for 4 minutes now and it only just now popped. I don't leave matches early or anything like that so I doubt I'm in a low priority queue or something like that, but obviously it's possible.

The mode changes to Gun Run, I cancel queue and go nofill BR just to get a lootbin daily thingy done, queue pops, I tab back in to the game and somehow I'm entering Gun Run. WHAT THE gently caress.
