Every time I spectate one of my Loba teammates try a maneuver that would save their life if they pulled it off, only to be greeted by a finger wag and a firing squad, I swear her off for a week.

I haven't played her all season :v:

Did we ever get any leaks regarding the teased Sentinel hop-up, or anything?

Having a hop-up that gives Disruptor rounds the ability to disable heals temporarily would be pretty strong, I think. Or a temporary max shield decrease? Something in that vein would do wonders for the Sentinel.

Oh that's a nice one, I never would have bumped up against that idea! Any good concept for a hop-up would introduce a way to work around that limitation by either making the singular shots overwhelmingly strong or by decreasing the downtime. This nicely preserves the gun's identity.

I have ruined a lot of Octane's escape plans with the Sentinel, it is weirdly good at tracking their arcs, for a sniper.

My favorite Apex memory is still that one time I managed to land a mostly-unintentional 400m Longbow headshot on a stimmed Octane that was sliding down one of those crazy long inclines on King's Canyon, back in Season 1. The random kid pubbie spectating me was going ape on the mic :unsmith:

Or that time our squad was parked on some high walls while the lone remaining enemy, an Octane, was zipping from cover to cover between those lil buttes as we threw potshots with snipers, ending with him throwing a jump pad and hurtling toward us as we simultaneously lined up midair shots on him...

shooting Octanes is fun, is what I'm saying

Lately I have set myself a limit of 2-3 matches per day due to time constraints (and a desire to actually play other games), and it has gone a long way toward improving my play. Trying to make every match count adds some welcome pressure that makes me play wayyyyyy better than I do in the middle of a 7-game loss bender.

Just bonked a Pathfinder in mid-air while tracking its entire parabola with the R-301 for the first time in months :3:

By the by, I don't think I have felt threatened by a Pathy in months? He ranks below even Rampart in my threat calculations.

I just had a pubbie give up the high ground in a 3v2 that was in our favor, door-block me as I'm scrambling to safety after saving his hide and getting me knocked, and then hide out in a building without either reviving me OR preventing the enemy squad from respawning. Then getting insta-melted the moment someone saw him.

If I didn't know any better I would think I was being griefed. Turns out I'm incapable of getting tilted but it is very possible to make me sad! It wasn't like he was rude or anything he was just made me feel the exact same cocktail of emotions that brachycephalic dogs do

Grow Towers have always done right by me. As long as your whole squad all drops in the same tower, you have a fighting chance no matter what. You can always run away somewhere else, with a reasonable amount of cover, if any particularly killer squads drop in a neighboring tower.

Carrier is super good too. You always get to do a clean sweep, or you get a very fair fight. I always drop in the back and go for the bins up the stairs.

Got a 2836 damage match! Third match in the 2800s since I started playing, and the intervals between those keep getting shorter. Probably would have gotten 3000 and the win if my third didn't quit early on, or if my second didn't consistently wander off. Gonna get a double hammer one of these days :toot:

Weirdest part is how effortless the whole thing was, no doubt because I was using the two guns I have the best handling with, Flatline and TT. I was landing basically every single one of my shots, chaining headshots and soloing whole squads because I could tell within seconds of engagement that I could take them. Making successful and risky plays every chance I got only resulted in weakened and dazzled squads, which snowballed into yet more kills. Is this how good players feel all the time? Is the secret to be full of yourself, even contemptuous???

The bow just let me kill off two successive third parties while my teammates were reviving each other/healing up. Not just hold off, actually savage them in seconds. Jesus.

The Hemlock's glory days are just plainly behind it, and every other heavy gun has some fun new stuff going for it

I miss the days when single-fire Hemlock and select fire Prowler were the best kept secret in the game. It's not like the former would be overpowered these days, seeing how brutal the G7 is right now

You know what would be neat? A way to send commendations to enemy teams or something. Basically a way of saying "good match" to people on Arena, maybe with a little gift of tokens or whatever

I think I'm basically in your same skill bracket, but,

*I don't know why you were using the 30-30. You landed maybe 5% of your shots, and passed up a bunch of G7s and Boceks besides! Speaking as someone who also had a 95% miss rate with the 30-30 until the last week of last season, going to the firing range with that one would probably be helpful.

*Looking back at the moments when you were on a roll, you will notice that half the work was done by the fact that, in that moment, you came from an unexpected place. And in the moments where you stalled out, like that small abortive peek at 1:35, you were going out of your way to be predictable. Instead of going back to the same piece of cover with the intention of popping out as you were already doing, you could have put doing your ult and done a long jump to the other end of that long building. Maybe it wouldn't have worked out, but you could just pop your stim in that situation and run back to cover.

*On that note, you weren't really using Octane's abilities to facilitate any plays. With your tactical, you can really catch people with their pants down by showing up just 2 seconds earlier than they expect you to. Instead, it seemed like you were dreading coming into contact with enemies half the time. Again, that tactical means you can just scout things out at ground-level with minimal risk, and your ult means you can make high jumps just to scout enemy positions.

More personally, I always ask myself, what would be most convenient for my enemies right now? If the answer is [whatever I'm currently doing], I try to change my gameplan. I try to never spend more than 5-10 seconds on the same patch of ground, and I try to not use pieces of cover/angles of attack more than once unless circumstances changed majorly in the same fight. I always ask myself if the last 30 seconds of play worked out as best as they could, and if not, what I could do differently in the next 30

Oh and I also try to visualize everything in an eagle's eye view, as if from Crypto's drone, and then do the play that would be the most off-the-chain sicknasty to an outside perspective. Somehow that helps :v:

Bangalore with digi-threats is currently my preferred way to rack up Arena wins in a hurry. it feels like cheating atm, but I figure people in Ranked Arena will figure out counters easily enough

been playing since launch and I just got my first Kraber headshot on a moving target! on a stimming Octane no less :toot:

turns out the secret to the Kraber is that it runs on Vibes. if the vibes are good when I line up the shot, I shoot. if they are not, I don't. simple!

having half an inventory full of grenades going up against the last 2 squads in a small ring is some of the most fun you can have in this game
