I fundamentally reject the notion that The Thing, of all people, would be anti-LGBTQ.

I can’t think of a comic book hero that serves as a more direct refutation of bigotry than the explicitly Jewish character who goes from experiencing discrimination and hate for his ethnicity to being hated and feared for his transformation.

I do like middle-aged twink Archie+Jughead and Gimp Charlie Brown.

I am unsure if Peppermint Patty is trans here or simply choosing whatever gender presentation works for them, but I respect it. What I do not respect is their choice of Adolf Hitler cosplay. That’s just too much, even for Folsom Street.

Hmm, gore/violence/blood may be something I should address in the rules. What do you guys think is reasonable?

A) No gore/violence/blood, period.

B) Stuff like minor bleeding/cuts/bruises ok as long as it's reasonable in context of the image and not like, a depiction of domestic abuse or some poo poo.

C) Moderate gore ok if it is clearly cartoonish or abstract. No serious violence involving realistic people.

In none of these options would stuff like viscera/dismemberment/extreme violence be acceptable even if totally cartoonish.

The current shark violence image would be C. Are we ok that? Are general forums rules ok with that? In a vacuum I would want to say we go with C, but I dunno that might be too much to leave to people's random discretion. So maybe B. What do you guys think?

Son of Thunderbeast
Sep 21, 2002

Hey, Adora.

B sounds reasonable, with anything else like that behind a link + CW for gore or something like that.

I think the street sharks one is fine because it's in the context of them being sharks, but this is the DA thread and the violent art can get real bad in that context

\/\/ or yeah, that, that's phrased better

Cartoon Man
Jan 31, 2004

B should be the default rule, but honestly C is ok if it’s tagged and URL linked but like the horny rule there better be something hilarious or compelling about it.

I forget, did that guy ever go on to commit murder? Even if those pics hadn't featured stomping people to death, the art style would have still given off a serial killer vibe.

I haven't seen the image, but it doesn't sound like it would be either. It's not B because "reasonable context" to me is like, a bruised boxer or an adventurer cut by a sword. Not open sadism. And it's not C because it's depicting realistic violence against people (even if it's technically a drawn image, human beings gleefully murdering another person is not like anthropomorphic muscle sharks fighting with knives). It's just poo poo we don't want.

There are no rules I could ever write that would cover all cases. In the end, people have to act responsibly and not post creepy or gross stuff. If in doubt, err on the side of caution. I updated the rules, I think I got it right.

Oh yeah, this is fine I'm sure. I realize I phrased the rule awkwardly. The intention was to avoid like, those things were people photoshop a celebrity face onto a porn star, or recreate the exact likeness of somebody in 3D porn, etc. Gross stuff. It doesn't apply to things which 99% of the population would consider non-sexual (that < 1% who gets off on Fat Sparky wins today I guess...) as long as it's not otherwise gross. Like, taking the wording literally, I broke the age rule myself by posting a silly Konosuba/StarWar crossover because Megumin is in it. That's not the point. I just updated the wording.

I guess this Hatsune Miku person is a Domino's mascot.

For a brief history on this, for any that missed this glorious age of pizza lore, miku was at one brief point in time part of a branding thing in Japan in like 2013.

Yes, it was bizarre. But you could use an app to have miku dance on your pizza box and you could take pics of said preformance.

The video below "explains" it all. Capitalism, the explanation is capitalism.

It is a given that some people are gonna be horny about some things to some degree. It is unavoidable, but it is ok. If they aren't actively advertising or calling attention to it, it is not a problem.
Oh there we go, back to "so-and-so called attention to the fact that they're horny about something by posting too much of it, shut down the thread." That basically is worrying about what other people are secretly thinking/horny about.

I mean that's what the rules from your OP say anyway, so it's not drama from the old thread, it's the rules of the new thread:

Meme Poker Party posted:

try not to post the same thing every single time you post. If you only ever post inflation in here, then it looks like you're just posting your fetish (because you probably are). Basically, even if you're secretly horny for a certain fetish, that shouldn't be obvious to everyone through your posts.
This basically says yes, it's fine to spend your time policing what other people may or may not be horny about based on what they're posting. This sounds really healthy for everyone involved!

In fact let's go back to this:

I'm sorry man, I don't know what to tell you. Tbh I'm not completely confident I know what you're trying to say. Maybe it's because I wasn't around at the end of the old thread so I'm not familiar with the particulars of whatever drama happened. I had stopped posting/reading like probably 50 pages before it was gassed. Basically all I've gathered about what happened at the end is some poo poo about Clifford the dog lol. But does it really matter what specifically happened? Let's just start fresh and post good!

In any case I would just ask that if you like this thread, just try to relax and take it easy. I definitely do not think people should spend their time policing other's posts. The message I was trying to get across was something like "it's best not to go looking for problems that aren't there yet." which is encouraging the opposite. Maybe I worded it poorly, I dunno. As for the inflation, it really was just a random example. There is no hidden meaning there. Outside of obvious trolls and troublemakers, I think if we all give each other the benefit of the doubt about posting and posting intentions, we'll have a swell time yucking it up about bad, weird, and horny art!
