What it says on the tin, let's have a thread to discuss Isseki videogames, though I really only know of one, and it's a controversial and rail-roaded to heck one, which seems antithetical to the spirit of things: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1146100/The_Rising_of_the_Shield_Hero__Relive_The_Animation More of an advertisement for RPG Maker than a real game, this follows the plot of the anime to a T, locking you to a fairly linear path, so much so that you can't even level past 20, since that's where the "anime" ended at the time of release. The combat is fairly basic, as the main role of your hero is indeed, to shield their companion while they do all the real work. For a game showing off the capabilities of rpg maker, the pacing is pretty darn slow, and the battles last longer than they have to. If you saw the show and thought "I wish it spent more time showing the hero grinding." Than I suppose this game is for you.... Does anyone know of any other issekai videogames? Hopefully good ones?

The premise of Nox has you as a trailer-dweller suddenly getting sucked up into the fantasy world because the Macguffin happened to be on top of your TV.

Misspelled Isekai, voted 1. Also Jak II is a pretty good isekai.

David Cage's trash garbage fire Omikron the Nomad Soul operates under the premise that you, the literal player, have your soul transported into the game world to control the avatar in the game Stranger in Sword City is an isekai setting dungeon crawler that unfortunately is aggressively against valuing the player's time The expansion to One Way Heroics has a recruitable character who has been transported in from another world but in general the game is just a fantasy setting. Do the Star Ocean games count as isekai? (they are, imo, not worth the time to play despite developing powerful meme levels) Lamebot posted:Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy Tactics II Final Fantasy Tactics 3, as well (by which I mean Tactics Advance 2)

sinky posted:Myst is Isekai oh my god. And when you take Uru into account, it's an isekai nested in another isekai. I thought their most recent game Obduction did a good job of being a similar type of game where you're a regular-rear end dude transported to an alien world, although it doesn't lean into having to figure out puzzles through cultural stuff as much as Riven or Uru.

Technically speaking it doesn't really count since you're not actually transported from another world, but given your total lack of backstory and ability to ask things about the world that anyone should know you could almost consider Skyrim to be one.
