Yeah 3rding that the snapping is godawful. It doesn't help either in the early stage that there's so much f-ing grass blowing around that you can't see your god damned floor tiles to see if they're snapping properly or not. I find myself switching between KBAM and controller fairly often because trying to build anything with the controller is an exercise in futility.

The music in this game is chill as gently caress, I've had no qualms whatsoever of posting up at night in a shed with a door and listening to the ambient music while i smoke down a bowl

I've got a ShadowPC sitting out in the cloud, I wonder if I ran the virtual server on it if it would keep the machine alive after I've disconnected. It usually times out and shuts down after 30 minutes of inactivity, but if a program is actively running and consuming resources, it may continue running past that. At worst I might have to leave the game client running so it thinks I'm "playing" a game.

The very fist tree I cut down went physics crazy, the bottom kicked oit instead of the tree falling over and it gunned me before I even knew what happened. I've been playing nonstop ever since.

Has anyone checked out Valheim Plus? It's a mod that has a lot of great looking options:

I'm thinking about checking this out but am a little afraid that future Valheim updates will break saves. You can read more about it here:

I'm tempted to try this too, I would definitely start a separate world and character to do so, though.

I'm gonna go ahead and set one of these up. I've got a pretty nice seed in mind that starts you in an area that seems to be a generous 'island' of meadows on the shore, surrounded by black forest just to the south of world spawn with copper and tin deposits all along the shoreline south from there as well. If anyone's got any world name suggestions more creative than 'goonhalla' or 'goonheim' i'm open to suggestions. Once I've got it set up, I'll go ahead and post the details in the PGS thread. It's estimated to run at about $26/mo for a medium instance so if there's interest/activity in it after the 90 days I can probably cancel a few services I don't use so much anymore and keep it running.

So far as I can tell, my dedicated server isn't even authenticating through steam. I'm not super knowledgeable about how LinuxGSM works internally, though.

Oh drat it, I think that explains the wget error one goon was having. Stupid auto formatting that is usually actually really helpful.

idk if it's a consequence of me hackifying my own installation together, but i also had to overwrite common.cfg with _default.cfg before I had a full config file to edit.

had a little trouble getting another goon's world save uploaded to the instance, but I had him add my public key to it and I was able to sftp them up there for him, but would be nice if I could get him connected via winscp or powershell sftp with the public key, unfortunately i'm a bit lacking in the identity management department.

i think i'll build a cronjob and have him create a folder on his google drive that i'll mount with ocamlfuse and just back up the world files to weekly.
