Yes, and? All the data they were receiving was being automatically sent back by the rover. They didn't have to command it to do any of that. It was programmed to automatically take and send back those two pictures.

By the time we received the rover's signal that it was entering the Martian atmosphere it was already sitting on the ground and sending back pictures (as well as whatever other post-landing tasks it was programmed to do).

Are you saying they were celebrating a landing that happened 11 minutes in the past as if were happening live? This is just the kind of deception I'd expect from NASA!
