So NC State is forced to forfeit because of too many COVID cases. They did play a game against Vandy yesterday and so it's not out of the question that some Vandy players were also exposed (vaccinated or not). How can the NCAA not require testing of Vandy as well? Not only that, but the virus has an incubation period that would extend into early next week. You could argue Vandy won't know if they have anyone infected until then. And if they're not gonna move the games...

It's kind of comical not having your college baseball team & staff vaccinated at some point during the spring... like you'd think they'd just make it mandatory to play on the team so they don't get DQed for dumbshit. Probably some vaccinated & healthy players on the team that are really loving upset...

Vaccines, especially J&J, don't prevent you from catching COVID, they prevent you from dying from covid, and, according to the CDC, prevent you from spreading covid, and you probably will even be symptom free. You can still catch it and test positive. The vaccinated players are not likely to have spread the virus to Vandy, though I'm never going to say anything is impossible with this virus.

You can still catch it and test positive. yeah, i jumbled it somewhere along the way as being sick rather than just being positive, it makes total sense given they're eating meals together, likely sharing hotel rooms, probably unmasked while flying, so on. i think also some of the unvaccinated ones had COVID earlier in the year too so probably too much reliance on natural immunity. whatever, just a lovely situation. anyways this is all starting to lead pretty bad places within the fanbase, what with baseball being full of chuds.

Well our top of the order went three up three down with the chance to give us the lead late in the game. Three double plays already because we’re petrified of getting thrown out by this catcher. That may be the difference in this game right now honestly.

Here's a really solid timeline on the NC State COVID debacle: https://d1baseball.com/analysis/nc-states-cws-removal-the-timeline-of-events Seems pretty clear that NC State would have avoided this fate had everyone been vaccinated. They may have still ended up with some infected, but presumably they would have not been tested and it all would have flown under the radar. It sucks that the end result of this is that it basically negates Vandy's first loss in Omaha for a win instead. Everyone for Vandy was tested Saturday and turned out negative, but it's not clear if contact tracing will necessitate an additional round of testing before the game Monday. I think we can all agree that if we win, it was a Good and Just victory of the blue-collar, salt-of-the-earth underdogs over the evil empire. If Vandy wins, it's time to bust out the asterisks********

I have no sympathy at all for NC State. They had players that chose not to get vaccinated, the coaches and vaccinated players tolerated this, and they experienced the consequences of that decision. If the NCAA is to blame, it is because they allowed unvaccinated players to play at all.
