Signing deadline is August 1st. The A's managed to get everyone to sign on. I don't know about yall but I am watching different threads around the internet doing math on how much money is left to sign players to see if our remaining players out there are going to make it back to campus or not. I have played a lot of OOTP baseball over the years but I guess I never noticed much about signing bonus pools and 5% overage blah blah, it's all pretty interesting I think.

Quick Arkansas update:

A sixth player has entered the transfer portal for Arkansas and it's yet another pitcher! So far the transfers (5 P, 1C) have gone to Kansas State, San Jacitno JUCO, Arkansas State, TCU, and one retired. We'll see where the sixth ends up.

In addition, a JUCO who was going to come here, Zac Vooletich, is ending up at Texas Tech instead. Seems like we lose a player to Texas Tech every year now days. This means neither of our two incoming JUCO transfers will actually make it to campus, the other was drafted and signed with the Pirates.

Arkansas currently has 46 undrafted/unsigned players with 2 college players drafted along with 2 HS signees. Current expectation is to lose the two college and keep the two HS, so looking at 48 heading into the fall. Gotta cut 8 more!

If Kopps doesn’t sign with the Padres is the plan to just have him pitch all the innings this season as opposed to half?

Pretty much, I mean he only gave up 9 runs in half our innings so *crunches numbers* he would only give up 18 runs all year. I would take that!

Unfortunately I believe he has signed with the Padres so the cyborg is moving on

Big XII realignment talk:

Cincinnati, UCF, and Houston are up-and-down, but Houston did recently have a run of success (before falling off to a > 200 RPI team last year).

BYU baseball is coming from the WCC and has been pretty meh for a few decades.

This also drops the AAC down to 4 baseball teams, so whoever they add to their conference will need to support baseball or they'll have to find a partnership with another small baseball conference to get back into the auto-bid category.

Texas coming to the SEC makes the West much more interesting with MSU/Texas/LSU/Arkansas. :captainpop:

And with Tennessee's ascendence, UT/UF/Vandy/SC in the East :vince:

Man, I can't loving wait.

I can't either and I hope we're at least consistent with the ascendence. College baseball can be all over the place so I hope we're good this year too

I dont know how to do good formatting someone can fix that idk

For my money, Tennessee at 34 seems to be the biggest miss, espeically with Georgia ahead of them, but I also dont remember how much roster turnover they've had and all that. Reigning champion Miss State at 9, runner up Vandy at 2.

SEC has 4 in the top 10, 10 in the top 50, and everyone but Missouri (unless I missed them) receiving votes. Poor Mizzou.

It feels low but we had 7 kids get drafted and several more graduate. Five of those drafted were starters. Evan Russel (of) (he's the kid that had 2 3HR games last year) is coming back and so is Luc Lipcius (1b) because they have an extra year due to Covid.

Tony got a few transfer portal arms like Seth Halvorsen who was drafted but decided to stay in college and a catcher I can't remember the name of

I guess I can understand the rankings because we lost a lot and I definitely don't like being behind UGA but idk anything about their squad this year

The OF is going to be pretty sick though with Russel staying and Beck/Gilbert still there.

yeah still not in a position to make a thread and besides if i did it would just be to hero-worship NC State's Tommy White, who has started his college baseball career by going 7 for 10 with 4 homers, including a grand slam just now to break open the game.
