i don't know what it is about tatsuki fujimoto, but first i shotgunned the entirety of firepunch in one sitting, and later all of the available chainsaw man in another single sitting i don't know what it is, because i wouldn't necessarily describe them as enjoyable, but they are inexplicably compelling

blanking on the name of a manga, and since mangadex is down, I can't check my follows involved two characters made immortal by a magic cataclysm wandering through the shattered world trying to find a way to kill themselves. involved a lot of somber themes, but the main characters themselves are very slapstick googling gives me nothing edit: i picked it up initially because someone linked it in this thread, so at least one of you knows

cave emperor posted:I watched Mugen Train, it wasn't very good. If it had been a four-episode season finale arc I probably would've liked it well enough, but it just doesn't work as a movie. The biggest and most obvious flaw is the abrupt change in plot two thirds of the way through, when all of the train stuff is wrapped up and made irrelevant in the blink of an eye, and a new and completely blank slate of a villain is introduced literally out of thin air. This is fine in an episodic format, but it is just not how movies work. The final third also drags on way too long, and even during the (admittedly wonderfully animated) final battle Demon Slayer can't stop having its characters explain their every move. Everything leading up to the final third feels like a mediocre mid-season arc, with a tired dream prison plot and flat, uninspired direction, and the movie as a whole doesn't have anything to say that the anime series hasn't already said a dozen times over. It's pretty (some questionable CG notwithstanding) and the VAs do a good job as always, but it's too uninspired and poorly scripted to leave a lasting impression. fair enough. i should note that some of your criticisms arise more from the source material than the adaptation. characters are going to explain there moves a lot, and the series isn't going to introduce any significant changes to the message or themes going forward. at this point kimetsu no yaiba has shown you a lot of its cards, from here on out it's mostly about meeting new characters and slightly different set ups. i love it, but i also enjoyed the mugen train arc. if you were really let down by mugen train, you may be dissapointed going forward

i haven't watched 3.0+1.0 yet because i'm holding out for a theatrical release because i'm annoying nerd, so i don't know how this plays out in the end, but in the previous rebuild movies shinji does embrace getting in the robot and every time he does it only makes things worse. this also happens a couple of times in the series and eoe, but is made more explicit in rebuild maybe the series is trying to communicate something

Aurora posted:it's not a good joke friend it's a joke and a description of the show. i liked the musical aspects of the show, but i really liked the non-musical aspects of the show (so the majority of the series). i find it amusing that a show nominally about a band has such a large slice of life component, and given how many jokes the show makes about that balance, that's not some out there take. i'm sorry for enjoying something in a way that's apparently different from how you enjoy it
