I’ve been in a Honda CRX (not the CRV, this was the little 2dr car) with 6 other people. Pretty sure the engine was whining the entire time, but it’s doable* *only for so long

NC (appearing to be semi-sane among the southern states), has bumped up their timeline for COVID vaccines. Group 3 was initially going to start in mid-March, but with the approval of the J&J vaccine the window for group 3 opened yesterday. https://governor.nc.gov/news/gov-cooper-announces-frontline-essential-workers-eligible-vaccination-beginning-march-3

No, he was. IMDb lists him as the VA, but H Jon Benjamin seems to have taken over the role (though I have t seen exactly when he did). E: I see the confusion. H Jon is Jimmy Jr, which google is probably picking up on and leaving out details. Icon Of Sin fucked around with this message at 16:05 on Mar 5, 2021 |

Pine Cone Jones posted:So I've heard there are folks who just check for appointments for covid shots, is this a real thing and if so how do you find them. My husband has been trying to get an appointment but everything is booked pretty solidly. In NC, you can sign up through Walgreens, CVS, or Novant Health (and maybe through the local Department of Health?). J/J’s vaccine just arrived, which expanded our options a ton.

Prop Wash posted:If you're in the US it depends entirely on the state. In some states it's per county so it's even more of a mess. In many cases the fastest way is to call the distribution sites directly (as Icon of Sin pointed out because literally all goons are from NC, here in NC you can call Walgreens or CVS or Novant/Atrium Health). In the NC thread, people are talking about getting “leftovers”, aka calling up the nearest pharmacy/distro site and asking if they had any covid vaccine no-shows/cancellations that day. There’s a window where the shot has to be used, and if it’s a toss-up between getting used or thrown away...that’s a fairly easy choice to make* *if they’re willing to play ball, which could be a tossup because lol US It’s worth a shot ( ), Walgreens and CVS are distro sites for a bunch of states and you can sign up/look for appts online. I think Walgreens is only scheduling 3 days out, not entirely sure about CVS.

As of yesterday, certain Harris Teeter pharmacies in NC are also offering COVID vaccines. Publix seems to be doing something similar in SC. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/whats-in-store/article249688013.html

So we’ve got vaccine info on this page for NC, FL, and WA. Anyone else got links, etc for other states? I was thinking about consolidating all that info into a single thread so it’s not lost on some random page nobody is going to dig for.

I made my thread about vaccine access, here: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3961248&perpage=40&noseen=1 If you’ve got info that could lead to someone scheduling a vaccine at all (let alone earlier than they would’ve), go share it there.

Tillis is already whining about it in an email to NC residents, so that makes me feel a bit better about it already. e: quote:Unfortunately, Democrats have managed to turn the one uniting force in Congress into just another partisan, divisive political issue of the day. Instead of continuing the bipartisan momentum on COVID assistance, Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Speaker Pelosi chose a partisan path that resulted in divisive legislation that’s more focused on ramming through far-left initiatives instead of providing targeted relief to help small businesses, re-open schools, and end this pandemic so we can return to life as normal as soon as possible. He’s a piece of poo poo, so if he’s mad about it there are decent odds that it was actually something good.

Trip report pt 2: I think I managed to get every single side effect of the J/J vaccine, but only for a day (as expected). Woke up this morning and the fever, chills, soreness, and nausea were just gone. I’d heard of it being this way, but it was still weird to experience.

Today is the 1-year anniversary of the WHO saying “oh poo poo” and declaring a pandemic. NC is moving to phase 4 (out of 5) of COVID vaccines starting tomorrow. Phase 4a is people age 16-64 (65+ were earlier) with pre-existing conditions, and 4b (currently scheduled for Apr 7th) is all other workers. Phase 5 doesn’t have a date that I’ve seen, but if we keep up this rate NC may actually beat the federal goal of opening vaccines to everyone in May.
