The US isn't exactly a success story on vaccinations. I haven't seen full numbers on this and am not an expert in any way, but some of my work is adjacent to public health and part of the "success" in moving into the next phases is that there's so many people that are not willing to be vaccinated. So we're working on "everyone that wants a vaccination will have one by may" being about 1/2 of everyone eligible to get it.

If everyone 16 and older was getting it, we'd probably still be looking at the fall before everyone has it.

Then add in the fun of potential large clusters of unvaccinated people and the lovely mutation lab that will provide for the virus and. . . yay.

Also, these Q/Trump fucks have led to health funders that normally fund important things like hospitals and medical research instead diverting millions of dollars to target people who are "vaccine averse" and try to convince them to get vaccinated. Thanks, assholes.

My dad was saying 30-50% take up rates on the vaccine in eligible segments. I'm hoping it's closer to 50%.

Probably better than my experience yesterday. Got an appointment at the pharmacy down the street because I sat up the night before refreshing the online appointment thing. Got one for about 5:30, thing said to arrive 15 minutes early, and to print and fill out a questionnaire thing. Arrived 30 minutes early, sat in line for an hour because the same line was handling both vaccine check ins and regular pharmacy things, handed them the online questionnaire thing I printed out that morning, got told the thing had a few missing questions and I would have to fill out the same packet with two questions added. Posted up against a wall and did it quickly, handed it back, got told there was four people in front of me, and it really shouldn't be more than fifteen minutes. Thirty minutes go by and a dude who looked like he had either a spine or leg issue gets up to the desk and tells the pharmacy his pain meds weren't working and he'd needed better ones. The pharmacists said they weren't allowed to prescribe meds, and he'd have to get his doctor to call it in. This developed into cursing and screaming and security dragging the dude out. It is now 7:00 and I start to feel the need to take a piss, I ask the pharmacy if there was a bathroom I could use, apparently its employee's only, and if I left the pharmacy and got called I may lose my spot for the day, and besides it shouldn't be too much longer. 8:00 rolls around and my bladder feels like its going to burst when they call me up, I get my shot, they tell me to hang around for ten minutes and I said I'd be right back and go piss in the parking lot.

tl:dr, mass sites are probably a better experience than a pharmacy no matter how conveniently placed the pharmacy maybe.

Ouch that sucks! Glad you got it though. Mine was the same process, just much more organized. County sent out an email using eventbrite, grabbed the ticket, showed up to fairgrounds and parked. Grabbed the questionnaire and filled it out in the 5 minute line, checked in, got the shot, said hi to my dads wife since she is volunteering as a post shot people watcher, left after sitting for 15 minutes.

They trained up a lot of the local medical university and voluntold students they were helping and then also offered early vaccines to people who volunteered to assist in the process, which is how my dads wife got hers. All my notices are saying vaccines are going to be offered to everyone starting April, at least in the North Bay Area.

Did they schedule the 2nd shot for you as well? The ticket set dates for both 1st and 2nd shot so I already know I have to go back 4/15 at 0900.

Add in JIT manufacturing and Europe could run into difficulties pretty quick. Speed is the only thing that matters and they will dump money on this.

How the gently caress have you not been through? I thought it was just about inevitable.

Canal transit from Med to Red Sea generally goes:

Stop by container terminal on west bank at Port Said. Pick up pilots for southbound convoy, head out early morning. Northern part from Port Said down to lake had two way travel I think, the waterway is natural and wider. Hit the lake and anchor for a period to wait for northbound convoy to pass. South of the lake is the man made passage. It was pretty narrow but they expanded it in the last decade. Take departure at Port Suez, no terminal there, grab security team for pirate zone passage. Transit Red Sea, pirate zone starts around Bab al Mandab and extends out into the Indian Ocean.

Northbound is just opposite but you would anchor at Port Suez and skip lake anchorage.

I think its usually like 17 hours. 10ish for the north and 5ish for the south? Last time I went through was like 2014 so my memory is a bit hazy.

Going to accept a good layer of dust on everything even if there's no real wind. Wind can pick up pretty easily and you get dust storms out into the Indian Ocean. Discharge sludge at the anchorage in Port Suez if you have time. I miss actually visiting Port Said, they built the terminal about a decade ago and its on the far bank now so visiting is next to impossible.
