Digital Jedi posted:Did the UFC ever try in-between and just fail? Or they just never cared to run 3 titles on a card? Its because of PPV buys and the payment structure.

I know the odds look tempting to bet on Megan, but if you look at her UFC stats, she is very hittable. Nune also has long punches, and hits HARD. Going to quote this tomorrow. Nunes KO before round 3.

If you have the attention span this is a really good read: https://www.themith.com/the-ufcs-champ-champ-thing-has-run-its-course/ TLDR: UFC is giving too much attention to one-off fights that don't really have much follow up. Diaz vs Jorge for a one time belt. Everything Conor does. Fighters moving to different weight classes then retiring (GSP, Cejudo) or losing (Izzy). The article of course is much better written than my summary.

Charles Gnarwin posted:I, too, think that if there is a single moment in a fight where someone suddenly loses the ability to punch their opponent despite having two hands that work and are right near a face then the fight should be stopped. I am not really understanding you. Yan could have thrown punches in that situation, he just couldn't do any strikes using his legs. You can punch a fighter who is on his knees. In north/south you should be able to get some good digs into the grounded fighter's midsection.

Morning Kombat did a segment about reffing a few months ago. It turns out in baseball (or was it football) its the mid-range experienced umpires that are the best. Since it is a ball sport, there is a lot more research into the officials. The new umpires make mistakes, they learn and get really good, then they start making more mistakes as they get older.

Brut posted:No, I wasn't saying that it's like, poorly sourced or something, but it's literally in the article that they've filed for IPO once before and then backed away from it, so I'm making an uneducated guess that it will happen again. I don't know poo poo about stocks though Don't watch fights, don't follow MMA news, don't know MMA journalists The are the guys who do "real journalism". Attend the lawsuit court sessions, write about the judges verdicts, analyze fighter contracts, analyze fighter pay. These aren't the famous talking heads on popular podcasts.
