Gov. Cuomo announced today that the New York teams can have fans in the stands. He's recently been accused of sexual harrassment/assault by at least 7 women, and is also caught up in a scandal over sending covid-infected patients to nursing homes and covering up the resulting deaths. Many Democrats in NY and nationally have called for him to resign. McMagic is saying that Mets and Yankees reps shouldn't be appearing with Cuomo at events right now since it looks like the teams are supporting him.
It's a photo op acting like everything is normal when the dude is in the middle of 2 horrific scandals. It's a very bad reading of the room by both the Yankees and Mets.

The Yankees have a policy of hiring guys with injury troubles and hoping to get playing time. That's why they carry a huge IL.
Other than Stanton and Judge who you can say are injury prone at this point, it's been literally everyone on the team getting hurt for at least 3+ years running now though.

TBH Lindor has been a 325m player for 1 season in his career and he's gotten worse the last 2 years. He's probably the worst of the big stortstop FA class next year and they will all get screwed on money coming off a labor stoppage.

DJ LeMahieu, career high of 5.3 fWAR, a top ten player in MLB
For the last 2 years, LeMahieu, also not a 400mm player, has been better. After 2018, Lindor got worse each of the next 2 years. His SLG was also 100 points down from 2019 to 2020..... That isn't NOTHING.

You are comparing two entirely different positions and also a 27 year old and a 32 year old. Lindor has more bWAR than LeMhaieu in 4 less seasons. You aren't helping your argument.
You are also using a hosed up pandemic year in your analysis in which any type of normalcy was hard to come by.
I already granted you that Lindor's 2018 season was a 400mm dollar player. It's just blatantly obvious that he didn't do that any other year of his career and his trendline is down from 2018 to 2019 to 2020. I didn't bring up LeMahieu.....

2020 was 60 games so its easy enough to ignore and he still would have been close to a 5 win player over a full season.
2019, he was a 5.5 win player.
This is a really bad take. He's arguably the best SS in baseball, and at worst top 3.
4.5. Not 5.5. That is a relevant difference!

I must be an idiot because looking at Francisco Lindor’s offensive numbers I don’t see what makes him worth such an astronomical amount of money. I get that he plays a premium position (or rather THE premium position) but he looks to me like a ++starter, not the perennial MVP candidate implied by that deal.
