Hey everyone! I saw some COVID vaccine info floating around the CE thread and on Discord, but didnít want it to get lost in previous pages that nobody would see. Info is what Iíve seen posted here and on Discord. Iím in NC and able to get a shot from a number of places, and I figure that that is likely the case elsewhere too. I donít really have the power to vet some of these (proceed at own risk) but if even one of you gets a vaccine appointment that wouldnít have occurred until later, then itíll have been worth it.

On to the important parts:

Walgreens covering a big pile of states: https://www.walgreens.com/topic/promotion/covid-vaccine.jsp#eligibility

CVS, doing the same: https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine

Walgreens says they update their appts every hour or so, unsure about CVS.

Currently scheduling in AL, GA, NC, SC, TN, and VA.

Problems look mighty small from 150 miles up.

AFAIK Virginia's set up is 'register with the state and/or county, they'll contact you to tell you when you can make an appointment.' https://vaccinate.virginia.gov/

If your eligible then the next step is usually to go to the local county health dept website to sign up for an appointment: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine/phase-by-health-district/

While the state is currently in 'Phase 1B', at least in NoVA they're only giving vaccines to the first 3 of 11 'Essential Worker' categories that fall under it:

quote:

Police, Fire, and Hazmat - Eligible
Corrections and homeless shelter workers - Eligible
Childcare/PreK-12 Teachers/Staff - Eligible
Food and Agriculture (including veterinarians)
Manufacturing
Grocery store workers
Public transit workers
Mail carriers (USPS and private)
Officials needed to maintain continuity of government (including judges and public facing judicial workers)
Clergy/Faith Leaders
Janitorial/Cleaning staff

My county pointed out the following tidbit:

quote:

Please note: Non-essential worker Phase 1b groups currently eligible for vaccination account for approximately 40% of all our residents over the age of 16, and vaccine demand is far greater than appointment and vaccine availability at this time. Therefore, it may take months to vaccinate people in these priority groups. This is why Ė even if you register for an appointment Ė it might take some time before you can actually schedule a slot and get vaccinated. There are plans to increase options for vaccination at pharmacies and health care provider offices as vaccine supply increases, which over time will give people more choices.

After they get done with Phase 1B there's Phase 1C, Other Essential Workers that they're hoping to get to by May:

quote:

Energy
Water, wastewater, and waste removal workers (includes recycling removal workers)
Housing and Construction
Food Service
Transportation and Logistics
Institutions of Higher Education Faculty/Staff
Finance
Information Technology & Communication
Media
Legal Services
Public Safety (engineers)
Other Public Health Workers

After that it's Phase 2 and everyone else, whenever that ends up being.
