I'm feeling nostalgic for the long-dead messageboards of my youth, where this particular forums game was a mainstay so I'm making a thread.

The Rules
1. Post a screenshot of a video game, preferably an obscure one
2. Everyone tries to guess what game it's from
3. Whoever gets it right then posts a new screenshot for identification
4. Or everyone just wildly posts pictures and guesses, who cares
5. Don't be a dickhead and reverse-search an image or whatever

The Prizes
I have here in my hand exactly two copies of Academy Award Winning game Despair

They're actual gift copies, not keys, so anyone fool enough to really claim one will have to do it through Steam directly.

Aren't you just doing this to try and get rid of some ancient, crap games?
Yes.

I installed it just to take a screenshot and now I'm tempted to actually play through the campaign as everyone. Would kill for some kinda remaster.

Yeah, it's a classic, but it's aged... pretty badly.

Finally found something that could at least be somewhat obscure enough to not get recognized immediately.

Many years ago I enjoyed this game in another forum and wished SA had something similar, but I thought there just wasn't really any place to put it.

I don't know Sininu's screenshot but I'm gonna :justpost: in the interest of keeping the thread moving, it might run smoother if there are multiple screens up for guessing at any one time.

Agreed on the :justpost: front.

Yup. Great game. Well... "great". In some ways. In other ways, less so.

I hope I'm not going too obscure too quickly with these ones:

These two are correct, yeah. H&E is to this day one of my favorite puzzle games, although some of them were infuriating (Multiple Cursors comes to mind). That card game, though. :allears:

That's SOS. I've never played it but I'm a sucker for sinking ships in games so it's one of the few LP's I've watched.

I had to steal this one from a video since it's a very specific thing I wanted to capture, but it'd still probably be easy if anyone had actually played the game.

I can't believe SOS was guessed so quickly! Should've realized there were fellow sinking ship enthusiasts out there. Alright, well I haven't played your screenshot game, and I can barely tell what's going on in it, but I recognized the outfit since I've always been interested in playing it: Anachronox, right?

That's right. It still holds up and runs great as long as you force vsync on through your GPU, I can still easily recommend it without caveats. Deus Ex got all the praise and Daikatana got all the jeers. Anachronox got nothing at all, not even players.
