Axiom Verge is cool as poo poo, but is far from A Perfect Game. It’s got some really awesome upgrade tools and is a love letter to anyone who noodled around with the false worlds between the walls in the original Metroid.

Beating Sly on my first attempt was the only time I ever got close to Nat-esque savantness in this game where almost every other difficult boss took me steady repeated practice to overcome. Needless to say I felt vindicated for every “you made that look so goddamn easy” moment to date.
