Oh hey, new thread. Cool. Sleepy Griffin has always been the best Griffin. The brothers are generally only able to reach the highest level of comedy when they are A) sleep deprived B) on drugs or C) hosed up on pasta.

I'm sure if they did it every week it would just turn into "orange man bad" quality jokes, but drat if them ripping Ted Cruz to shreds isn't really funny.

I think a lot of people would like to consolidate our debt into a high interest loan with unlimited credit! Honestly the scammiest part about that company isn't even the predatory interest rates. It's that they don't let you pay the loan early, so you're absolutely going to be paying it for years on top of the terrible interest rates and there's nothing you can do about it

if someone fell for the loan shark advertised that would be unfortunate, both because they trusted the brothers to not sell anything fishy, but also because it means someone actually bought a moneyzone product, which I don't think has happened since Extreme Restraints ended their partnership the moneyzone is for seeing if the ad gets ruined by one of the brothers breaking or going too far into a bit, not for actually listening to the ad. i mean you can't click on a podcast ad, you'd have to type the URL out and then possibly even input a coupon code. who even does that

some plague rats posted:I'm unclear on if this an attempt at a defense of the brothers or what you were going for here i guess that's why the loan shark is a weird choice is because usually it's ads aimed at middle class listeners. like that time when they had the ad partnership with that investments company and had no idea or experience in promoting such a thing, and it was just extremely awkward The 7th Guest fucked around with this message at 03:28 on Apr 13, 2021 |

Desperate people are the people who sign up for this poo poo. If someone is desperate and hears the mcelroys reading positive ad copy for a loan shark it doesn't really matter how they find out about it. edit: also if you regularly listen in a car or while out running or something it's probably easier to just let the minute of ads play most of the time.

they should just advertise RAID SHADOW LEGENDS because the money's probably good and everyone will know they didn't play it, because no one who advertises RAID SHADOW LEGENDS has ever touched it, and anyone who looks at it knows its trash

I have listened to JJGo for over ten years and have heard Jesse tell a lot of negative stories about his youth. In a nut shell, he grew up poor in a bad San Francisco neighborhood and his father was an abusive PTSD addled alcoholic for most of his youth. That’s a lot of subtext I gleaned at least. Lot’s of ‘funny’ anecdotes about getting mugged and his dad having episodes. Interpret that how you will when you look at how he has historically dealt with money and any longtime collaborator that may pull him down.

No capacity for goofin'. Also we have a Casper mattress here but I'm not sure if we bought it using a money zone coupon code or if another podcast was selling them when we bought it. I bought one pair of meUndies and they're ok, but not $20 ok. Feel very ok not buying Hello Fresh, Blue Plate, StitchFix, etc. etc. tho. It is really fun checking through the ads if you're listening to something outside of your ad profile. Ads about going bald? Yea, probably a male-dominated podcast. Ads about bras? Hell yeah suck it marketing assumptions. Do people get served different ads? Or did they remove it from TAZ. Didn't hear it in the latest ep.

HelloFresh/Blue Apron were excellent 4-6 years ago when my partner at the time and I were rookie teachers and the kits legit taught me how to be a much better cook. We’d get 1-2 boxes a month and they were a welcome change from the poo poo we’d normally make at home or get via takeout. However she was a lot more willing to pay full price for the boxes and stay subscribed long term than I was/am. I don't know about different ads, but I'm doing a slow listen-through of the Sawbones back catalog and I'm getting ads that were clearly recorded in the present day (references to staying at home, Charlie being on ads talking) rather than whatever they recorded in 2015-16. I've never heard of a podcast doing that before.

I've never heard of a podcast doing that before. all the MaxFun shows have done that, at least as long as I remember listening (2013) MaxFun presumably has an ad coordinator(s) whose job it is to keep all the ads on all the shows current, no matter how old an episode is. So somebody getting into TAZ for the first time after reading about how bad it’s gotten on the NYT (the TAZ so bad it made the news) won’t be served a “sexabunga” ad from 2014

I've never heard of a podcast doing that before. It's a very common practice these days, it doesn't pay much to do that for old episodes but it's better than nothing. At the very least it can alleviate the hosting costs for those old episodes a lil bit.
