The series is a not-so-subtle commentary on idol culture in Japan so Kotaro's just playing his role in that. But yeah, not to worry, he gets his rear end kicked by the zombidols.

So basically, at least from what I can tell, Tae was originally the leader of a group of a ghostbuster-like group that battled demons (Sagako) with farming tools, and their hideout is the same mansion where Kotaro and Franchouchou are now. One of the members of the group had the power to seal demons in onions, but she overexxerts herself, causing herself to be sealed/transform into an onion. She has a twin brother that's looking for her, and meets Tae's group, who tell him what happened to her sister. They then go to the hot springs in from episode 4 of Season 1, where they encounter another Sagako. Afterwards, Tae decides to train the girl's brother in battling demons
