It is giving far too much credit to the right wing cultists to say they are helping songs like Montero or WAP reach the popularity the have. I'm sure you'd be able to trace some kind of ratings back to when the Shaprios of the world started to notice it but they aren't fueling a bandwagon, they're riding it with everyone else. They're just the ones that won't stop complaining about it despite needing it just as much as everyone else.
