Nah they're great, Jeff Goldblum playing Jeff Goldblum just sucks

This might explain the two detectives leaving SVU at the end of season 26: Kelli Giddish (Amanda Rollins) will be back as a regular in season 27

I finally finished my comprehensive Law and Order watch. It's a ridiculous amount of tv. I've lost count of how many murders and rapes I've seen on TV. My thoughts on the current state of L&O: It's fine I guess. I like the cast of vanilla. SVU doesn't even need a large cast to be honest. Just make it the Benson and Finn show and I think everyone would be happy. Organized Crime is great when it's Stabler doing crazy undercover poo poo and it sucks when it does CSI 'tracking your cell phone and doing technobabble' poo poo.

I've been sick all week and barely have the energy to do anything but lay on the couch, so I'm finally catching up on all the various L&O flavors and this just showed up in an SVU ep where the cops showed a "call log" to a potential suspect to show the victim of the week called them 10 times. ![]() lol

I've been watching one episode of Vanilla per day, and I'm up to season 9, so I saw the Exiled movie between episodes 5 and 6. It's a good thing I did, because now I'm wondering if I hadn't how long it would be before I started wondering why Profaci doesn't show up anymore. Also, I got a good laugh at seeing Ice-T in the opening credits, and then seeing him play a pimp who gets kileld.

This is a bit random, but I've recently developed an interest in the OJ case. It's so much more than a murder - which is unfortunate but that's just how it goes. But my main point is, I of course knew this was important. I was born in '88 and I actually have learned in the course of my reading that OJ was acquitted on my goddamn birthday. But I was so young I never realized just how big this all was before reading about it. So, we have the biggest, most high profile trial ever that dominated American consciousness and news for over a year. Yet I can't remember a single L&O episode based on it? Maybe I'm forgetting but I definitely watched L&O up through 1994-1995 and nothing is ringing a bell. L&O is supposed to "rip its stories from the headlines" but I'm drawing a blank here.

I think in my last re-watch I only got to the end of Season 6 but not too sure. I'll have to check these out, thank you. The "cultural impact" of the killings/trial really interests me. How L&O covers it is a good insight into that, I feel)

Honest to go watch The People vs. OJ Simpson from a few years back. It takes a modern lens on the case without sacrificing what was happening at the time.

I remember the Bronco chase. My family was on vacation in Florida and it was raining literally all day so we were stuck in the hotel room. Literally the only thing on all the channels was that drat chase. The best part of the chase is when a Howard Stern whack-packer pranked an entire nation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEqV063FBrA

lmao in third grade they rolled the TV into the classroom so we could watch the OJ verdict live. The kids cheered because what the gently caress did we know, but the teacher was horrified The only other live news event we stopped class for was 9/11

The kids cheered because what the gently caress did we know, but the teacher was horrified Yep, I've heard from multiple people about watching the OJ verdict live in school. I don't remember anything like that at all. I do remember some teachers I knew watching on portable TVs as the news came in on 9/11. They kept it hush-hush to the student body at large, though. But yeah, that's crazy. I never knew just how big this trial was till a few days ago. Mooseontheloose posted:Honest to go watch The People vs. OJ Simpson from a few years back. Yeah I've heard really good things and it's on my To Watch list along with OJ Made in America and the Life and Murder of Nicole Brown. Plus of course I got lots of books to read. And the whole trial is on the Internet Archive to check out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Dcz8LhwaI I remembered this absolutely brilliant ending exchange and also Keith Szarabajka as Jamie's rear end in a top hat ex. The rest was vaguer. It's pretty different from OJ. Obviously no race card. I wonder if Jamie's situation here though was inspired by Marcia Clark. I have some sympathies with her personal life and the misogyny she faced, but she did an absolutely awful job in court so.... Jamie was better.

Yeah, it’s not an exact 1-for-1 with the O.J. case like a bunch of their other, more obviously ripped from the headlines episodes are, but it’s got several parallels to it, particularly the defense being a dream team-esq group and the trial being broken down on CourtTV.

I was out sick the day of the verdict so I didn't see it at school. I do remember the Challenger and getting upset when, because I was talking it up, my grandparents gave me the chocolate shuttle they had bought for me. My grandmother thought it might not be a good idea, but my grandfather had paid for it and he wasn't about to let it go to waste.

One of the more interesting things I've read about the OJ trial was the foreword for if I Did It: Confessions of the KILLER, which was by Ron Goldman's father. It's about 40 pages of "I hate this bastard, I hope he burns in hell" and (besides using the name of the trial, The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson) he never calls OJ by name once. It's always "Ron's killer," "my son's killer," "the murderer," or "the monster who killed my son."

Mehcad Brooks departing is a shame. Jalen was pretty good, and his dynamic with Vincent was really starting to grow on me.

I do like the current configuration of prosecutors though. I like Price's trying to do good but always on a the verge of a nervous breakdown energy, Maroun is a good foil supportive but also more active and will to challenge Price, and the new DA is a good mediating presence.

There are times when I wonder why Maroun keeps working for the DAs office considering how little Price and, uh, Tony Goldwyn bulldoze over her suggestions
