Anybody got the J&J vaccine? I'm scheduled for the 8th, but kind of giving it second thoughts and thinking maybe I should try to get a Pfizer one.

I got the J&J this morning. I'm at T+10 hours right now. Arm is a little sore at the injection site - honestly barely noticeable - but some old injuries are starting to feel stiff and "off". I also feel the edges of fogginess.

My injection was done at 9:40 AM on the 31st. By 8 PM on the 31st I wasn't feeling so hot. By 10 PM I was feeling like rear end and went to bed expecting to be running a 'shivering so bad I'm covered in sweat and can't even move' fever. Instead I just had a low fever all night, some sweat but no shivers. Felt a little better the next day, a lot better the next night. So for me it wasn't that bad. If we lived in a normal timeline and I had to physically go in to work I could have still done it even with this thing riling up my immune system.

I was very miserable the day after the J&J vaccine, but the day after that felt completely fine. My work gave 1000 J&J shots to employees and most were ok but there were many with similar experiences to mine. Nothing serious though.

Have you had similar reactions to flu shots? I'm curious because I got a bad headache for my flu shot in 2020 but my Pfizer shot had zero side effects besides a slightly sore arm.

Fatigue was the only side effect over the weekend. Shot Friday at 5pm, arm sore Saturday morning, fatigue set in Saturday afternoon, lots of fatigue Sunday, and all better on Monday. Wife had the same reaction, but with more arm soreness at the injection site. Super excited for shot 2!

Canada is just slow on the rollout so it'll likely be May or June before they get to me, but I wish I could get it sooner. Although, my province is literally one of the safest places in North America with zero community spread so I shouldn't complain.

Pfizer here. First shot was merely a 1/10 soreness at the injection site, no other noticeable symptoms. Second shot was the same soreness at the injection site, but also came with muscle tightness/fatigue in my quadriceps that felt an awful like the feeling of having worked out for the first time in months on those muscles... Tightness went away in 2 days though, so by day 3 after the 2nd dose everything is back to normal.

Arm's pretty sore after my Moderna shot yesterday, feels like I got punched a few times right on the same spot. My wife and I are now trying desperately to convince her family to get vaccinated by showing that we're totally fine, we're not turning into robots, and it's not making us any gayer than we already are. Unfortunately my mother-in-law also has a friend who has a friend who has a daughter who "got arthritis from the vaccine". Does anyone have any clue what bizarre right-wing rag this story is coming from so we can debunk it?

I got both Pfizer but like. My office is still closed and I still can't travel and we are back into lockdowns. So it feels like not that much has changed I'll be honest. Second Pfizer made me feel like actual poo poo the next day, it was basically having a flu for a day

Pfizer 1st shot yesterday, needle was ummm, pretty big and it hurt at first but 25 minutes later it went away and was nothing most of the day, although I definitely avoided sleeping on that side at night. Day 2 the soreness is just like a flu shot!

Got my first Pfizer yesterday. I mostly just had upper arm/shoulder soreness, but at one point while taking a walk later, I had what felt like a bolt of lightning shooting from the injection site all the way down my arm to my fingertips. I wonder if that was the 5g activating.

zedprime posted:Immune responses can swell joint tissue just like arthritis. This is part and parcel with whole body soreness and feeling like poo poo and will go away normally. If your arthritis persists for an inordinate time after an immune response this is a sign of rheumatoid arthritis, an auto immune disorder unrelated to what is causing immune responses (i.e. not the covid vax dummy) and something a doctor should treat as a serious chronic illness. I would agree with this. A lot of people's "side effects" are things that already were affecting them but they didn't want to admit or weren't paying attention to. Once it gets a bit worse after the vaccine, THIS ARTHRITIS IS DEFINITELY THE VACCINE AND NOT 20 YEARS OF TYPING ON COMPUTERS ALL DAY

My J&J single-dose experience - I was the third person in my county to get the jab as part of this wide-availability phase so the people running the site were still trying to figure out paperwork, etc. The shot itself was fine - needle was larger than for a flu shot and it was a fair amount of fluid. T+04:00 that arm was a little sore T+06:00 some stiffness in that shoulder T+10:00 started to feel a little sluggish, felt the very edges of muscle soreness. Old injuries starting to hurt. T+12:00 noticeable body aches, mild headache, hands a little shaky - basically feels like the start of a seasonal flu. Took NyQuil. T+14:00 fever started, chills, headache. Some stuffiness. My throat was a little sore. Totally unable to sleep even after doubling down on NyQuil. T+17:00 fever hit 102F, would peak at 102.5F. Hands were shaking so much that I couldn't pour a glass of water. T+22:00 fever started to break, headache just keeps going. Can't sleep. T+24:00 fever now down to not-a-fever levels, chills are gone, everything still hurts. Lethargic, can't think, don't want to move. T+28:00 Time of post. Sluggish, mental fog, everything just kind of hurts. Still have a headache. Old injuries still more sore than normal. Overall 3 out of 5 stars. Not as bad as a solid seasonal flu but worse than a hangover. Nothing to be scared of. NyQuil did not seem to help at all. Ibuprofen did. Stay hydrated. Try to coordinate the shot with your work schedule.

Just got the Johnson shot, waiting the 15 minutes to make sure I don't go into anaphylaxis, but so far it's about the same as any flu shot, maybe a little worse but mostly just a sore arm. Got it at CVS, relatively little bullshit, web site seemed organized well enough, will recommend.

I used a smaller chain in brooklyn but the pharmacist was explaining they order 1000 doses and only get about 200 a week. It might be a minute, but at least this was more available then the other options or I'd still be waiting months from now. Hopefully other countries don't think it's all roses in city/urban distribution, it's still a clusterfuck and i spent all day every day since become eligible to get any appointment for 6 days straight to no avail before just cold calling a local pharmacy instead right as they got a shipment at the start of the week. Like anything else in america the affluent and politicans got it first

My wife and I got our J&J's last week in a drive thru location at a new EMS station. Really nice, three bays open, each bay holding three cars in a row at once, with lots of staff masked up running around and helping people. First day we just had sore arms. That night I kept getting piercing headaches that quickly faded. Day after I had severe brain fog and fatigue. My wife was pretty fine. That night most of it faded. Second day after and I was back to normal, except my arm was still sore at the injection spot. Nothing too bad, and nice to know that in another week I'll have the bare minimum to be considered somewhat safe, and three more weeks I'll qualify as vaccinated (or however the J&J timeline works).
