it seems a bit stifling if the already tiny shamisen scene only acknowledges variations on preexisting pieces and not new pieces.

I mean, this is a thread about anime. How many isekai are we up to now?

What was the Nagatoro racism thing about, anyway?

A racist got mad because the English translation of a slangy Japanese script used slang he wasn't particularly familiar with.

I got that, but wasn't there one before this week about the manga itself being racist because it promoted bullying or something? After the anime was first announced.

blue reflection just had an entire episode about twitter arguments/callout posts with no actual fight scene. it ruled.

Really?

Did we need that poo poo in anime, too?

just kidding, i don't think i have the energy to pick up another show and they're almost never as excitingly stupid as posts about them sound. but i enjoy that post.

here is something else from a stupid show

I mean that's in more or less actual English, which is better than we usually get.

you've watched one mediocre show you had no reason to get invested in in the history of a guy who's written on lots of classic and beloved anime. actually have you even watched gundam wing are you just cursed to watch any random sequels the guy wrote to 90s anime he worked on

however, i shall retract this if it turns out the eps of sailor moon s the guy wrote were the ones where everyone gets terrified for 20 minutes about the idea of having a lesbian crush

I have watched Gundam Wing, and even nostalgia can't disguise the fact that the plot is completely off the wall bananas. Frozen Teardrop is like the plot to Wing on bad acid.

86 is okay, at best. It's a slow burn. It makes the decision to chop and splice scenes so you see events from multiple angles, but the pacing and timing isn't quite there. Some of the dramatic emotional beats don't land. Intellectually the setting doesn't make sense from any kind of historical materialist perspective.

But the final few episodes, when the scenes are allowed to really breath and characters unwind, are excellent.

I would argue it makes perfect sense from a Fourierian perspective, especially regarding the lemonade.

Wait, there's utopian socialism and lemonade seas in this show? I gotta watch this.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting anyone to get that reference.

my sole experience with Prime for anime was when they had Vivid Strike and Lyrical Nanoha available for a short period of time and like half of all the Nanoha episodes had no english subs including all of StrikerS

*sigh* Why does every Nanoha English release have to be cursed

At one point Dream Eater Merry was on prime with something like episodes 2, 7, and 9 available for free, and the rest you had to buy access to.

I'm still baffled as to how that happened.
