So I've picked a handful I'll start with to see how it goes: Bishounen Tanteidan because it sounds like a cross between The Hardy Boys and Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, a concept that already has me giggling. Dragon, Ie wo Kau because anything that skewers fantasy tropes is worth a shot in my eyes. Odd Taxi because ![]() Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita because it just looks like a fun little slice-of-life fantasy series. And the second half of Kumo Desu ga, Nani Ka? because the first half has been ![]() ![]() If I decide to drop anything and if the resoponses are acceptable I might try Sentouin, Hakenshimasu!, but right now the previews for it feels like they're trying WAY too hard to be wacky.

The 7th Guest posted:i have no idea how the dragon house hunting show can sustain itself over a full season (maybe it'd be better as an 11 minute series), but letty is a sweet boy that deserves to be protected He's our precious, fire-breathing, cinnamon roll. I'm happy with the first episode of "Odd Taxi." It looks like it will be an intriguing little mystery.

So, if the first episode of "Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita" is anything to go on, it's going to be a delightful little slice-of-life story for the Spring. EDIT: Oh crap, the VA for the main character is Aoi Yuki. SHE'S EVERYWHERE! Doodles fucked around with this message at 18:32 on Apr 10, 2021 |

So, four things: 1. I recognize that text is never sufficient at expressing emotion, nuance, and intent, so please understand that when I say that "The Pretty Boys Detective Agency" is gayer than the entire population of Fire Island, I mean it as a compliment. But there's a separate thread for it, so I'll leave it at that. ![]() 2. Out of curiosity over the comments here I decided to watch the first episode of "Super Cub." How good could it be? ![]() Okay, another one to watch. And tell my broker to invest in Honda. 3. Today's episode of "Dragon's House Hunting" continues to show that Letty is just a precious scaly cinnamon roll. And when Dearia said he was a demon lord and a real estate agent, my first thought was "There's a difference?" ![]() 4. "Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka?" continues to hammer home the point that it's Aoi Yuki's world and we're just living in it. ![]()

Nephthys posted:TBH I feel like So I'm a Spider has kind of shown up other isekai with overpowered protagonists for me, even the 'good' ones. Seeing Kumoko have to earn every inch she gets through blood and ingenuity makes it feel so much better when she eventually gets really strong right in time for her to get the poo poo kicked out of her again. Watching Slime and Spider side by side last season really impressed upon me how little I've cared about the former since the Orc Lord arc and I keep finding myself comparing the two series, to Slimes detriment. Same. I tried to get into the Slime story, but it literally lost me by the third episode when he'd absorbed the power of this ridiculously OP dragon. In fairness, there's a certain cycle for Kumoko where as soon as she starts getting overconfident you know she's about to get curbstomped, but it beats having a character start out more OP than a Fallout player using console commands.

In a desperate attempt to try to divert this derail back onto the tracks, has anyone ever made an anime about lawn mowers? Or gardeners/landscapers? And if not, what sort of show would you want like that? Would it be a gentle, slice-of-life series, or would it be a fighting anime like DBZ? Or maybe a horror anime where the main character fights zombies with their blessed lawn mower and weed whacker? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW! ![]() (I remember that Zoroku from "Alice & Zoroku" is a florist, but that doesn't count. No lawn mowers.)

^^^ Yes, AniChart now defaults to Summer, so time to start thinking of what comes in July. Just a reminder that "Super Cub" is one of the most underrated anime series this Spring, and it deserves any accolades it gets. Windshields, man. WINDSHIELDS!

From start to finish, "Super Cub" has been delightfully sublime. Watching Komuga go from a lonely, isolated life to one with friends, family (borrowed), and a larger, brighter world came just at a time when I needed it. I hope everyone involved gets to go on to make many more wonderful stories. Safe to say this one will be one of my favorites of this year, and probably all time. Still not going to buy one, though. The drivers around here are KA-RAY-ZEE and I'd just be a target. ![]()

Well, I've been looking at the listings and I'm thinking I'll go with the following: Cheat Kusushi no Slow Life: it's that kind of Isekai I like where a person gets a chance to live a non-exciting life and put together something resembling a family. Not looking for the greatest story ever told, just a nice one. I was worried things could get a bit loli with that wolf girl, but there doesn't seem to be anything like that in the manga so I'm hoping the anime will be the same. I was going to watch "Shin no Nakama Janai" for similar reasons, but that's been delayed to the Fall. Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai!: It doesn't start until August, and I think it's just a one-shot, but it looks like just enough silly for me. A couple of folks have told me Isekai Shokudou season 2 is supposedly this Summer, but I can't find anything beyond the 4/23 announcement of it coming. Still, I loves me some food porn, so if it does come out now I'll be watching it. And of course, Maidragon S. One of my all time favorites, the Mini-Dragon episodes this Spring have been a delightful amuse bouche for the main series, and I can't wait to watch the next level of craziness. Hoping for a fun summer.

So the last episode of Slime Taoshite 300-nen etc. was a pleasant end to the series, and if another season comes around I will be happy to watch it. There's a number spin-off novels/manga as well, so I'll have to keep an eye open for all of them.
