I wonder what’s going to happen when he gets drafted. I imagine special pro athlete exemptions are gonna be a thing.

Heck yeah Burries is in now. Should be interesting because it’s been a bit since Arizona did a full youth one and done squad. I wonder if Krivas will be able to move a bit better, he was a mummy man when we last saw him and he probably would not fit with a presumably up tempo squad, but also that could just be he was not actually healthy during his brief return.

Really lovely for that kid. wait hold on how have I not heard that a player for a D1 school - and Duke men's basketball at that - is on the poo poo list? we're already to this stage of things? Jeez. I guess it really is true, something more procedural and sharper than normal. I've been a longtime skeptic of Dennis Gates (as long as you can be after three seasons) and it's looking like Mizzou is going to have another year without a big man who contributes anything (I guess at least Josh Gray got some rebounds, but he didn't play a ton). Their fat, tall freshman is likely transferring out and they can never, ever get a center who belongs in a major conference to sign with them in the transfer portal. Unless they actually do sign a big man that isn't Connor Vanover v.2, they have to pray that Trent Burns is who they say he is (he didn't play at all last year and is like 7'3" and weighs 200 lbs). The seat is heating up for Gates!

Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 player in the 2026 class is in Lawrence this weekend. Rumors that he might classify to 2025 even though he denied it. If it happened and he signed with KU they would have the #1 player in two classes playing together along with Darryn Peterson. Melvin Council, Jr. signed and I really like him too. Tre White and Jayden Dawson too. I dunno maybe Self's demise is a little premature.

I've also seen that BYU is near the top of basketball NIL spend. How is that happening? Is there a donor with deep pockets for hoops? Their football guys all being Mormon so they don't need to spend a ton to get those guys to commit? for reference: https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...inancial-chaos/

There are a lot of rich mormons who went to BYU, lots of IT and stuff in the area because of the CIA data centers. Still it's crazy that the top prospect next year is going to BYU. Clearly this has been in the works for a while, cause he did his last year at some Utah prep school, instead of say IMG or Montverde

Get those 16 seeds ready Painter also got a 6'7 Forward from North Florida who hit 40% of his 3s on 7ish attempts per game, plus the Oscar Cluff signing a few weeks ago. Between them and keeping Smith, Loyer, and TKR Purdue's rumored NIL bill is in the $11-13 range.

Florida's first guard off the bench, and I think the only player we actually recruited out of HS that got playing time this past season, is transferring to Kentucky (he'll be a senior next season). I've seen claims that he was offered $1 mil to stay but Kentucky offered him $2 mil (but he might still just be a 6th man?) but who knows for sure. Florida fans are acting like a bunch of jilted lovers and crying about how they never liked him anyway, he wasn't going to start this season, surely we have a plan or we wouldn't have let him go, he is a traitor, they should take away his championship ring, and loyalty in college sports is dead. https://www.on3.com/college/kentucky-wildcats/news/florida-transfer-guard-denzel-aberdeen-commits-to-kentucky/

I think that's exactly what it is, but I also don't believe every dollar figure that's thrown around. I think there's an incentive on both sides to inflate their numbers, players to squeeze what they can out of schools like a bidding war, schools to entice players with promises of lucrative deals.

I'll be honest, and the Cyclone board I visit, people are almost always good natured about plyers transferring out. The only one I can remember fans having heartache over was Tyrese Hunter because he left for Texas in 2022, and what most assumed was a bunch of NIL money. Losing a starter to a in-conference team stung.

Arizona fans react well for basketball but melt the gently caress down in football. There is a very different level of sophistication between the two though which makes sense when you think about how football has developed to cause most of the fan base to turn over three years.
