Well on that note, we saw a month of bombs away and the team looked amazing, and then it was back to Geo iso-ball trash can offense. I like him a lot off the court, but he's Pikiell's binky, and it's clear at this point that he's not a top level talent.
I would be so much happier if Johnson was returning and Baker was leaving. I don't hate him, but enough, poo poo.
It's not like they had any better options. It was a pretty shallow rotation all year. Myles should have been better offensively than he was here. It's not the coach's fault he misses layups. Maybe he develops that side of his game at UCLA. He's one of the top 10 defensive players in the country though and we'll obviously miss him a whole lot.

Myles missed like one layup although it was a loving doozy. I don't agree with anything you said. We had a great offense the first month where coincidentally or not, Geo was out. He comes back, they get ice cold, and Pike panics and goes back to the poo poo from last year that didn't work, vs. the offense that had us playing like a top 10 team.
Running off Mathis too in the process. Again, he doesn't suck, but he made some pretty clear mistakes.
He was missing a lot of layups all season. He's not very good around the basket for a guy his size offensively. I think the first month was more Harper playing out of his mind than anything else. Even if Geo coming back was the reason he was less involved that is only an issue next year if both of them come back which is unlikely. I agree with you that Mathis leaving is going to hurt but that should be a guy they can replace. I'm more worried about the fact that the younger guys didn't really show anything all season other than Cliff playing some good D at times.

They're a fringe NCAA team, ranked #57 right now in the Bart Torvik projections, mainly because they lost Myles Johnson who had the fifth best defensive rating of any major conference player in the country last year. Right now Rutgers is projected ninth in the Big Ten, mainly because the top of the conference is so loaded
Basically, if center Cliff Omoruyi and wing Jaden Jones are good contributors, they're a NCAA team, if not, they aren't. They lost Johnson, Jacob Young (who had a great season), and Montez Mathis (a solid 3 and D wing who lost playing time to a defensive specialist.)
There's a bunch of freshmen who didn't play much or redshirted like Jones and Omoruyi, Aundrae Hyatt comes in from LSU to replace Mathis, and Paul Mulcahy is going to see a lot more minutes with Young gone. I guess maybe the other x-factor is Harper and Baker were hurt a lot of the year.
They won't be #57 when RH2 and Geo coming back is factored into that but the main issue is that they really had no freshmen show anything last year and they are going to miss Young more than people think. You know anything about Agee?

While Myles is a big big loss, if Rutgers doesn't make the tourney again with all their best scorers coming back (and Piekell teams always play decent D) that would be pretty disappointing.

Agree that Rutgers is a fraud. They have 2 good offensive players on the team and if one of them doesn't go nuts they lose. Today was a disgusting and pathetic loss but they have lost to other poo poo teams this year too and at this point it's just clear that they aren't very good. Sucks that Harper and Baker both came back and they aren't going to sniff the tourney this year.

Tennessee and Purdue, destinies seemingly forever entwined, are tied at 9 in the AP poll.
This is wild for a team apparently still on the bubble. Could be a problem if they can't get a win out of it and there are upsets in mid-major conference tourneys.
Usually around this time of the year, Purdue is like a 1-3 seed in the Big Ten Tourney and I'm looking at other teams knowing that they will beat Purdue no matter how difference the rankings are. This season as a 3, even with the recent losses, I still feel like there isn't a team in the conference that is so specifically head-and-shoulders better than us that I still feel like we could sneak in a tourney championship. Should be fun.
If they don't get in with a 12-8 4th in the conference record with wins over literally every good team in the league i'm personally rioting at the NCAA offices.

Rutgers deserved a better seeding than Michigan. We split with them, had more good wins and they took a giant poo poo all over the court in the big 10 tourney.

Eh, that's debatable. 9 of 14 in the tournament for the big ten vs 6 of 10 for the big 12. They're certainly not "way deeper."
It doesn't even matter. If you go 12-8 in the big 10 you should be in just like if you went 12-8 in the big 12.
