Jump to 25:15 in the BTS when it comes up. (I also could not handle the short version and didn't want to watch the long one.)

Edit: oh my god I see why they cut this one challenge, whoof

It's so refreshing to go back to some dropout stuff from the last year and find the foreshadowing.

For starters, Vic in make some noise trolls Sam with a note from Evelyn Tucci. However later on in the ep they say that the note was actually Sam's home address and that they sent it to 8 people. So Jacob, Lou, and the photo crew from Architectural Digest

Me reading your posts

With the long version of Vic's play you get Siobhan coming out from behind the curtain for a funny bit

I don’t really like musical theatre either but I wouldn’t actively skip parts like that when they come up in Game Changer episodes lol

Also yeah the long version of The Voicemail is worth it for Siobhan’s two moments (one is a duet with Jiavani!) alone

Episode does confirm Sam would be a terrible Taskmaster. Too squishy, too friendly. Easily overtaken by his players.

Wysocki proved himself an incredible TTRPG player in Never Stop Blowing Up, and Lou is obviously one of the D20 OGs, but when the hell are we going to see Vic in the metaphorical dome?

My prediction is there's no way we end 2025 without seeing them appear on D20

I swallowed a bug

Went Bloodkeep because it IS shorter and a whole new cast is fun too (I've seen Erika in M and M obviously but that was filmed after this). Wasn't expecting Amy and Rekha and that's such a fun surprise!

Also for someone who enjoys DND as much as I do, and even dimension 20, I've not seen any critical role and know Matt Mercer primarily as a voice actor so he is also novel and fun.

I'll mainline unsleeping city one and two after.

i want a full theater kid table. vic, bdg, siobhan, grant, aabria, and (as a treat for me) angela giarratana. maybe not aabria but i feel like all her characters on d20 have been relatively subdued and i've seen her go OFF elsewhere

Vic did an arc on Zac’s D&D podcast and was just as delightful as you’d imagine. I had to bail on the podcast once Zac relinquished hosting duties though because I really, really do not jibe with the way Jasper William Cartwright DMs stuff

ive been in the audience for a very, very large amount of terrible “satirical” musical sketch comedy - and on stage for a little bit of it, too. you can tell yourself that vic’s play is unique in some way but i have basically already seen it a dozen times and it isnt

The chaos of Vic and Beardsley in the same D20 show might literally kill brennan though.

tried some Smartypantses. some really good, but it seems like they split up the tapings more for the new eps? like in the first season you’d have Jacob or PFT or Zack Reino give a presentation in one ep and then be the peanut gallery for some of the other eps, which enhanced those too. on the new eps the crowd seems half random

imo i'd classify putting together a theatre production in order to record a voicemail for an internet game show as "unique"

I think it still works that way, they just have a lot of groups and are rotating through them with the new eps. Someone on reddit made this: https://www.reddit.com/r/dropout/comments/1iopwtw/smartypants_season_2_trailer/

- Priscilla Davies, Hector Navarro, Joan Ford, Chris Grace, Anna Garcia, Siobhan Thompson, Paul Robalino, Lorena Russi, Hank Green

- Mike Trapp, Max Burkholder, Alyssa Limperis, Arasha Lalani, Katie Marovitch, Ele Woods, Ryan Barton, Jeremy Culhane, Vinny Thomas

- Jess McKenna, Phil "Ace Watkins" Jamesson, Kristen Bartlett, Waleed Mansour, Courtney Miller, Becca Scott, Chad Westbrook, Ify Nwadiwe, Jiavani

- Jess Ross, Mano Agapion, Alexis Nikole, Jon Matteson, Peter S. Kim, Demi Adejuyigbe, David Kerns, Izzy Roland, Emma Choi

- Tai Leclaire, Elaine Carroll, Jordan Myrick, Shayne Topp, James III, Anna Rajo, Lily Du, Caldwell Tanner, Cam Esposito

So once they get back to the group from episode 1 (Trapp, Jeremy, Arasha), everyone in that group will be in the audience. Can basically gaurantee that for every room, they filmed everyone's presentations back to back.

sure but im not sitting through the stage production for a punchline broadcast on the internet months later, sorry if youre mad at me for not liking it and explaining why

edit: also there are two possibilities here:
1) people had to pay to be in the audience for that show. unacceptable
2) it was a free ucb show. extremely not impressive especially for vic

you can be impressed by her dedication to the bit all you like but it isnt logistically or creatively impressive. feel free to flame me, i think ive justified my opinion well and thoroughly enough
