I wonder if this is their tonal return to high stakes and perma death that Ally was talking about wanting to get back to in one of the aftershows.

Nah I'm happy. SSO was very fun, but all of the extra mechanics bolted on to the base rules (spaceship combat, movement within the spaceship during spaceship combat, spaceship to ground combat, spaceship base building, money and bills management) added way less to the narrative than to the runtime and was totally broken by the end.

It was cool in principle, not in practice for me. Also I really really hated the long hallway fight.

Just now getting around to One Year Later BTS and there's some real good stuff.

A frisbee decapitating the Cerro Gordo Sam standee got a solid laugh.

I hope they do something cool with the airship, since it'll (probably) be a continuous set.

I'm dreaming of the table having a multi-level airship model in the middle with sides that come off so they can move their minis around interior maps.

Put it on a rig so they can raise and lower it to table level as they go back and forth from interior stuff to wide scale stuff with little ships on the table.

In terms of the BTS I did think some of the really sincere compliments they paid each other could've made the main cut! Might not have fit the supremely chaotic fast paced energy that the final edit was I guess, but I do think it was definitely sweet and adorable enough and a good way to show how much they love and respect each other.

One neat thing they've been doing this season is putting the titles of the Smartypants presentations up before the episode, and this week's seems like a banger, especially Jess Ross's.

Parlor Room's promise to me was always as "a game to make funny people argue" and this first ep delivers on that.

Wavelength is a hell of a lot of fun but you have to know your crowd. It's very good at revealing very weird perspectives people have, Rules are super easy, even drunk people get it in a round or two.

It's a game about giving a clue then seeing your friends instantly descend into a rabbit hole and you have to sit there silently as you realize they're all lunatics. or vice versa. Which happens in spades in the episode, as well as the opposite part where you just peg something kind of esoteric in the 60% range (which is way harder than all the way to either side.)

Think my favorite round ever was when a friend got 'fancy date' to 'cheap date' and she said "A hog slaughter," which turned into an in joke for years it was like 75% towards fancy.

You wait for the war to happen like vultures.
If you want to help, prevent the war.
Don't save the remnants.

Save them all.
Wavelength is a great game to play at the end of the evening, just ignore anything related to scoring.

The app is also excellent and free (with paid add-on packs), though a slightly different vibe in that it’s fully co-operative, so the aim is just to shoot for a high score.
