It's ... fine. Some episodes lean into the setting and premise and do some cool stuff, lots of the episodes are generic sitcom tropes with the occasional "ha ha what if instead of newspapers, you bought a vase"

I want to like Um Actually. I feel like I should like Um Actually. Pedantic nerd poo poo, as a gameshow, with some A+ theming, and BDG just kind of hanging out in the background, it should be an easy slam dunk But every episode I watch I just kinda feel like it's ... I don't know, not living up to it's potential? There's too much structure for comedians to really riff, but not enough structure to keep it focused and moving as a functional gameshow. On the other hand, learning that Beardsley only ever plays board games while insanely high is a nice bit of character building to tuck into the back pocket
