I wonder if this was filmed before Smartypants, because Jess being a huge wrestling fan should have immediately clued Rekha into who the Landlord is.

Catching up on things and watched the latest Thousandaires. That was not good. The show is at its best when people are making giant dresses and writing musicals, and at its wrist when it's just "I rented a cotten candy machine" style stuff, and this was four of those, plus a lame prize that was a fifth example of that thing.

Open Source Idiom posted:That first season of Game Changer has that loving mouth episode, goddamn. I don't get the mouth episode. Also, the canned laughter one that was just an excuse for Sam to let the girls break poo poo was a stinker. Sometimes it seems like Sam just thinks something is amusing, without confirming it works as a game.

Raymond T. Racing posted:it’s meh but the payoff at the end where Erika gets to do the thing is worth it In concept, yeah. But in reality it was Erika timidly asking if it was ok a dozen times and then the sprinklers went off the end. I mean it's ok. It wasn't terrible or anything and any show is gonna have some lesser episodes, but I'm in no rush to revisit it.

As good as Dropout is about inclusion and poo poo, I was shocked they used the racial slur terminology for rubbing noses together in the news ticker of the latest Breaking News.

Aphex- posted:Great to see Cosmic Encounter there, I remember one of my first goon opinion whiplash moments was years back coming off a whole summer of playing Cosmic Encounter with my housemates and having an absolute blast with it, to then go into the board games thread on the forums to see literally everyone decry it as the worst game of all time and it absolutely sucks lmao. Cosmic Encounter is a really fun 30-60 minute game, but because of the bash the leader mechanics and several of the faction special abilities, it oftentimes takes 2 or 3 hours to play. At that point it just becomes an unfun grind. It's the same reason I don't play Illuminati or Munchkin. At this point, one of my only hard rules when it comes to determining a game I'm willing to play is the existence of a built-in endgame trigger. Something like a limited number of turns, or a form of entropy leading to resources running out. Similarly, with very few exceptions for things like diplomacy, player elimination needs to either not exist or end the game. I used to play a ton of Werewolf late night after the halls closed at conventions, but the game starting with one player being told at random (yes, I know it's not literally random, but the decision is made with zero knowledge, so it functionally might as well be) that they're not allowed to play the rest of the game really soured it for me.

NinetySevenA posted:who would have thought people who perform on tv every week would be pretty charismatic and fun? Chelsea Green was already one of my favorite wrestlers because of her gimmick, her facial expressions, and her hats. Then last week I saw her dunking on transphobes online and she went even higher in my eyes. I haven't watched the D20 yet, but if she's even ok in it I'll officially be in love.

T.C. posted:I would way rather watch a bunch of episodes about things like baseball, musical theatre, cocktails, pets, or whatever where people are engaged than watch episodes about 'nerd' things where people are just guessing and laughing at the dumb things in the questions. 1,000% agree, and you're gonna LOVE this episode. I haven't watched a nanosecond of any of the shows they talked about and this episode was amazing. Unrelated to that, the latest VIP was legit. Not as many laugh out loud moments as something chaotic like either of the Anna Garcia episodes, but the character choices and awkward tension were killer.

Claude McCaw was a very "sensible chuckle enjoy and forget" episode for me, in line with Jukebox. Enjoyed it, laughed several times, won't really think about again. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but compared to things I will quote for years to come it suffers. I did like the progressive growth of brutalizing envy and genderqueer people moving forward.

I would be self conscious of all 25 things on my card for the rest of my life.
