I watched the first episode of Smartypants because of Demi. I have never seen a Dropout thing before!!!!!

Well, the Demi part was very good. I wasn’t bothered about the rest. I didn’t enjoy how there was so much cutting to everyone else laughing. Like yes we get when it’s meant to be funny you don’t have to point it out so much. Weird especially when they would cut to the host who is just idk sat alone by herself. I think generally the editing was my biggest issue, it felt very focused on not letting the jokes speak for themselves. Anyway maybe I will never post in this thread ever again so goodbye everyone

e: wow this post sucks I was probably very drunk at the time

Most of my 2025 so far has been getting into Dropout and I just saw the fuckin bingo episode of Game Changer and oh my god how do they keep coming up with this stuff. Incredible

I had this idea to watch all the other shows I was interested in in the order they premiered so I started watching Breaking News and oh my god the episode in season 2 where Nick Kocher just absolutely roasts Grant with stuff from his past is unbelievable, I may actually die

Most of Greg and Alex’s stuff is scripted but most of the talking with the contestants and their reaction to things isn’t

I got nothing against BDG but I was surprised when I learned he’d become part of the Dropout crew, he definitely has a different kind of theater kid energy to their theater kid energy

Becca Scott is one is the most gorgeous people I’ve ever seen tbh

I decided to catch up with Smartypants so the new season could be the first Dropout show I watch week to week (or fortnight to fortnight) and jfc Paul Robalino’s presentation on improving human bodies was absolutely hysterical

Caught up now and thank god they’re finally putting Rekha in the same shot as other people so it doesn’t look like they reshot all her bits after everyone else had gone home. Even if it wasn’t a very good episode, which it was, I’d love it just for that

Do we know if they’ll ever make more Play It By Ear? I know it’s way more of an acquired taste than other Dropout shows, and perhaps has a lower hit rate, but when they get a good group together and they get cooking I find it hysterical.

I didn't get it - was it a reference to Animorphs for the sake of it? not tied to any prompt, right?

Vic is a chaos gremlin so I tend to roll with their sense of humor regardless.

Check out the cover to any Animorphs book. imo she deserved more than one extra point

People talk a lot about the Animorphs body horror content being absolutely buck-wild in the text alongside the famous covers.

But I mainly just remember the series ending with everyone throwing their traumatized selves back into a second doomed war, and presumably their deaths.

Not to mention the main kid commits genocide in the second-to-last book. It owns, Animorphs owns

I’m very close to the end of my first ever full D20 campaign, A Starstruck Odyssey, and it’s been so good. I’m so happy I have so much of this to catch up on. I also have no idea how they’re going to finish the story of this season in the 1 hour 45 mins or so I have left of the finale. But I can’t wait to find out!!!! Not sure currently what I’ll do next, whether I’ll begin on the Fantasy High canon or do some of the side quests I like the idea of, like Mice and Murder and Never Stop Blowing Up. Please feel free to give your recommendations!

I'd probably go with a side quest, but I don't think either of those are their best. Mice and Murder struggles with a cast that doesn't fully gel with the game, for obvious but unfortunate reasons, and Never Stop peaks really early and drags on. They've both got great moments though.

Mentopolis is a very strong happy medium between both campaigns, though I'm a big fan of Dungeons and Drag Queens too.

Ok I like the logo and background projections for Mentopolis so I’ll probably check that one out next. I do wanna try Mice and Murder to see how someone like Grant deals with a tabletop RPG, but I get how it could potentially end up being more frustrating than amusing.

I don’t really like musical theatre either but I wouldn’t actively skip parts like that when they come up in Game Changer episodes lol

Also yeah the long version of The Voicemail is worth it for Siobhan’s two moments (one is a duet with Jiavani!) alone

I think not watching the longer version of the play in the BTS after having watched the original episode is basically fine, even if posting about how you had to skip it because you just hate musical theatre soooo much feels a little performative. But there’s at least one person who said they even skipped the small clip of it you see in the episode itself, which is fully insane
