Wow so the side effects on the second moderna have an 18 hour delay it seems.

This sucks.

My symptoms started rough on hour 12, then I needed 24 hours of tylenol and snapped back to normal the next morning. It was very weird.

Use the hell out of tylenol, plus an NSAID. Take them at the same time or stagger every few hours or whatever. My parents and brother were all stubborn as hell, didn't take anything, and regretted it. Mother/Father both had a rough one with Moderna, brother spiked to a 103 fever on Pfizer.

Fever is why I was told take tylenol.

I didn't even quit smoking weed for the shot. Went home, smoked, napped, played video games. But J&J, not a two shotter. Arm was meh for a day or so.

The trial data had no restrictions on literally *anything* that people can do after the shot, just nothing *before* the shot. The body's response to the mRNA/adenovirus-induced spike proteins is to get inflamed like hell, so NSAIDs would be the most effective. But just in case letting the inflammation run its course increases overall protection, tylenol gets recommended over NSAIDs, because tylenol barely does anything for inflammation. That said, the CDC doesn't care, just as long as you don't take anything right before the shot.

And I'm finally getting around to this one and :stonk:

https://twitter.com/oneunderscore__/status/1388517469128642564

quote:

On Wednesday, Samsel, R-Wellsville, was substitute teaching at the Wellsville school district’s secondary school. Throughout the day, high school students began recording videos of the lawmaker talking about suicide, sex, masturbation, God and the Bible.

In one video shared with The Star, Samsel tells students about “a sophomore who’s tried killing himself three times,” adding that it was because “he has two parents and they’re both females.”

“He’s a foster kid. His alternatives in life were having no parents or foster care parents who are gay,” Samsel tells students. “How do you think I’m going to feel if he commits suicide? Awful.”

In another video, Samsel is recorded telling students, “make babies. Who likes making babies? That feels good, doesn’t it? Procreate ... You haven’t masturbated? Don’t answer that question. ... God already knows.”

IT ACCELERATES FROM HERE

quote:

Videos shared with The Star — by parents of students in the class — show Samsel focusing most of his attention on one male student. Both Samsel and the student paced around the classroom, talking back and forth. Samsel is shown following the student around and grabbing him. In one video, he puts his arms around the student and says that he was being hard on him.

At one point, Samsel tells the student, “You’re about ready to anger me and get the wrath of God. Do you believe me when I tell you that God has been speaking to me?” He then pushes him, and the student runs to the other side of the classroom.

“You should run and scream.”

In another video, he tells students, “Class, you have permission to kick him in the balls.”

Parents told The Star that Samsel “put hands on the student” and allegedly kneed him in the crotch. In a video apparently taken immediately after the incident, the student is shown on the ground. Samsel is standing over him and says, “did it hurt?”

He then asks him why he is about to start crying, pats him on the shoulder and apologizes, and then says he can “go to the nurse, she can check it for you.”

Samsel addresses another student and says, “do you want to check his nuts for him, please?”

quote:

In a Snapchat post shared with The Star, Samsel wrote that “it was all planned.”

“Every little bit of it. That’s right. The kids and I planned ALL this to SEND A MESSAGE about art, mental health, teenage suicide, how we treat our educators and one another. To who? Parents. And grandparents. And all of Wellsville,” he posted.

He wrote that he gave one particular student “hope.”

“I went to jail for battery. Does that really make me a criminal? Time will tell.”

He said that the incident happened during fifth period, and that the classes before that hour went as planned, and he shared the same lesson in each one. He said what happened was “exactly what God planned. The kids were in on it. Not all of them. But most.”

Neither is quite true - here's the current state of things.

Cuomo basically doesn't have NY State political power anymore, and Big Democrat Names are basically done with him, but his polling remained high enough that there's no appetite to impeach him. The general state is lukewarm on him through all of his creepy/skeezy poo poo that he should absolutely resign for. State Democrats are sorta secretly hoping the FBI nails him on the nursing home poo poo that he buried, or the state AG gets him on the sexual harassment stuff. State Democrats tiptoed into the impeachment lane for a few minutes, but the state still likes him, so they pulled back.

So it's still early, though trending towards no consequences. It's definitely not over because every few weeks they find out more skeezy poo poo.

quote:

One of Joe Biden’s top coronavirus advisers has warned that forcing drug companies to abandon intellectual property rights to Covid-19 vaccines risks backfiring if it leads to long legal disputes.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to the US president, told the Financial Times that he would oppose a plan to rip up international trade rules to improve vaccine supply in the developing world if it took too long to bear fruit.

The Biden administration is expected to set out its position on intellectual property rights this week during a World Trade Organization meeting.

Fauci told the FT on Monday that he was “agnostic” about how to boost vaccine supply to developing countries. But he added: “Going back and forth, consuming time and lawyers in a legal argument about waivers — that is not the endgame. People are dying around the world and we have to get vaccines into their arms in the fastest and most efficient way possible.

The patent discussion is not clean. There's simply not enough raw materials to make generics of these vaccines yet and the procedures are too complicated to make generics right now. If all patents were waived tomorrow, vaccine production will not increase. Arguably, it could decrease if new manufacturers gently caress up their first batches and waste ingredients. And those are vaccines that could get shot into arms.

It's a different story completely in 6-12 months when there is absolutely no moral reason to enforce patents when there are spare materials around and expertise is high enough to make generics. But as long as we're stuck in a raw material-constrained environment, people saying "hey, waiving patents doesn't fix anything right now and could hurt" have a point.

The patents should be waived. It's just not time yet, you can't whip up a batch of generic mRNA like it's amoxicillin.

My personal standpoint is that I don't give a flying gently caress what the pharma companies make... right now. Every dollar and bit of materials shoved to Big Pharma for this initial rampup returns like 10x the money to the economy and saves the gently caress out of lives. But Big Pharma is looking long term, in which they should go gently caress themselves, while hopefully in said long term the generics makers have enough expertise and ingredients to make the mRNA vaccines by then. There are a few vaccines already being made generically, just not the adenovirus/mRNA types.

It's absolutely an empty policy win on the government side though. It's the solution to a problem we'll have in 12 months when it doesn't do much about the material shortages.

The second dose is the full-blown immune response - I got a 100 fever with soreness, my brother got a 103 fever and general ick. Goes away quick, 24 hours for the both of us.
