That playoff chart with the lakers playing the busted nugs and then the playin/suns seems a little too convenient.

Dame is almost certainly sick of the low energy small market with no will to win. Once he gets to a real city he can shine.

The Mavs have added an additional mascot, Mavrello Ballovic.

"Ballovic, so the story goes, is one of the original owners of the Mavericks, dating back to their founding in 1980...His “off-the-wall” ideas for the team didn’t sit well with the other owners and he found himself and outcast. In 1988, Ballovic accidentally locked himself in a bunker only to emerge now, digging his way out with a spork."

Anyone remember that story from quite a ways back in the day someone brought in here, outlining how either his girlfriend or his friend's girlfriend got propositioned at a restaurant where MJ was having dinner? Like, someone in MJ's entourage came up to the table while the guy was in the restroom and was like, "Hello Michael wants to gently caress you, please meet out front in 5" or some such? I assume that's far from unusual in the world of mega-stardom but the story's stuck with me for some reason. My recollection is that whoever told it was speaking from personal knowledge, like was <2 degrees separated from the people involved.

Was it the mullet dude who asked?

Does basketball reference immediately update the algorithm for the HoF percentage tool as soon as new people are inducted?

Zogo posted:

It updates it occasionally based on stats etc. A few months ago Jokic had a 4% HOF chance. Right now he's at 16%.

But there are two parts here, one is an algorithm which turns stats of players into a percentage change of making the hall of fame. The second is the creation of the algorithm itself which takes all past players and performs a neural network fit based on which stats correlate to making the hall of fame, this only needs to be updated whenever new people are inducted because all of the stats for retired players are static.

He's basically the same guy he has always been and has been given away for nothing twice since he signed his last big deal, I don't think he was getting much either way. Even without the Lakers stint I can't imagine him getting much more than Whiteside did last year.

While that is true I wonder if he is demystifying a GM thinking that they had a drummond sized hole and only if he was in a good environment.

What if there is an ncaa style tournament to start the regular season. The winner gets the 1 seed. Then there is a second ncaa style tournament and then winner of that one gets the 2 seed. This is repeated until the playoffs are seeded, then the playoffs begin. That is the whole regular season.
