It sounds like the balance patch is mostly about bringing underperforming classes up to the levels of the better classes. Does it do anything to nerf the super-classes, or attempt to boost enemies? I'm curious about the designer's thoughts.

Can Of Worms posted:To be honest, the name "Balance mod" is just something that got attached to the patch because it didn't originally have any name and people wanted some way to refer to it. The changes themselves are built on two fundamental principles: Ahh, thanks for the explanation. Given that it's so Fiesta focused, have you considered calling it the Fiesta mod? Or banquete or something EDIT: vvv it figures TooMuchAbstraction fucked around with this message at 17:37 on Jun 11, 2021 |

Note that if you then you're saying "I commit to do X, or else I get banned". It's, uh, worth being aware of that caveat. It's also recommended that you put an upper limit on how much you donate, lest the goons take you to the charity cleaners.

Is there a mod that lets you toggle random encounters? The FF4 Free Enterprise mod has that, it's pretty nice for that game so you don't have to deal with randoms so much. Obviously in FF5 it'd kind of ruin the Brave Blade's raison d'etre, and you probably want to grind more often than you do in FF4

DalaranJ posted:I assume the answer to this is that they couldn't find a way to insert the specific variable damage equations into the throw damage calculation. In FF4, you can throw the Excalibur, but not the Crystal sword (a.k.a. Ragnarok). I always assumed that they didn't want you accidentally getting rid of the best weapon in the game. Something similar may be behind the thinking here.

Didn't one of the FF2 designers decide that this bug was in fact 100% appropriate, and that what was mythically powerful 10000 years ago (or however long ago Ultima was sealed) was now pretty pathetic because the science of blowing poo poo up with magic had advanced so much in the intervening years?
