I tried yesterday after the announcement and could not get a factory going until I switched to socialist and built it myself. Also kept playing around with the budget sliders every five seconds to try and get an economy under control.

in my hours of daydream-designing about a future Vicky 3, one thing i've always though would be neat is some way of competing for prestige by means of exploration/archaeological pillaging; so, say, you could sponsor expeditions to climb the highest mountains, reach the poles, explore 'darkest' Africa and the interior of the Amazon, exploit and steal the cultural memory of other nations to stock your museums. This would be more likely to be DLC fodder than base game stuff, but im curious if anything like that is intended for the release candidate :)

This brings up the possibility if you manage to make a super africna nation of going to pillage European artifcats to put in your museum.

Today I've tried to get into Imperator Rome again and that UI is so clumsy and irrigating after Stellaris and EU4, not to mention CK3. Like you open army screen and try to disband it the button is there but it's disabled. Tooltip says use military screen to disband levies, and there the button is disabled too and the tooltip says you can't disable a levy during the war. You are constantly asked to do something for a character (scorned family modifier, senate agenda or events do that), usually give them office, and it means you have to remember the name of the character and to find him on the specific office selection character screen. CK3 and even CK2 had put those characters on top of the list.

In many ways EU4 is even worse but I'm used to it. Glad to hear Victoria 3 UI is smooth, looking forward to it.

I like Imperator and feel like it would be amazing if it got one or two more big patches. :smith:

I get people are excited to play but my personal values are that EA is a marketing strategy for smaller developers that might not have the funds to finish it. It doesn't have a good purpose for established products as the main draw of it is that you get two "releases" which is great from a press perspective for the company.

A larger developer doing that is just making the meme "Paradox releases unfinished stuff" into reality.

E: Good purpose for larger studios here I mean in a consumer friendly purpose. Of course there's plenty reason why a company would want your money without delivering something.

Yeah there's a lot of good reasons why it ain't happening, but a man can dream...

eh, pdx did support it for 2 years despite it being genuinely awful and bad on release. i remember johan really emphasized not understanding whty it wasnt good at first, talking about how it was the EU: Rome codebase and everything, which just.. i dunno. betrayed a lot about the design and support perspective they had.

giving it 2 years and never really recovering player numbers is pretty fair overall.

But by the end it was getting really good!

No. They stayed and got protected. Some even led NATO for a while.
