Yes. YES! Excited for capitalists to built a glass factroy while 1.2 million anarcho-liberals rampage across Haiti in 1845.

I just hope this time the devs actually sim a game past 1880 and remember to not let coffee bring down the global economy

Paradox games barely work on one thread, now you want multithreaded POPs? You’re going to end up with a patch that spawns 2 billion threads, one for everybody in the world.

It’s always been sorta deterministic with the US getting a huge boost to immigration and countries with more liberal or socialist policies being more attractive than reactionary hellholes. Given that we’re only simulating 100 years a bit of railroading like a massive wave of Irish emigration is good.

Every Princely State uses the same flavor text about "can they become free from British rule?"

...except Bhopal which uses the generic text about industry. tugs collar

I have no idea what is happening but I am exporting assloads of tobacco from Haiti and running a profit despite paying France a CRIPPLING £2000 per period.

The game is simultaneously mad at me for not having enough paper and importing paper at a loss.

Haiti does not start with Napoleonic infantry.

So is there a way to tell my dumbass ministers that “export wood” does not mean dump my entire production on the open market, destroying my economy? I want to sell some of my surplus while I build more factories, not leave my entire country with no wood.

Hah, I got a pop up event saying that a West African culture has decided to migrate to my Haiti. Within a year, my country’s population was 600K my original ethnic group and 300K the new one. That’s one hell of a migration!

1. Export to a smaller, more marginal market that needs less wood. 2. Raise export tariffs so that the "break even" point of your supply and their demand is smaller. 3. Figure out how to tax the shopkeepers running the trade depot and use that money to subsidize your economy.

It's counterintuitive, but trading in this game is nothing like the typical "I'll sell you x parcels of stuff for y units of do$h". You're basically linking your entire supply of x commodity into their market with the buffer [your export tariffs] and [their import tariffs]. I have no idea how/if consumption taxes link into this process.

I’m thinking of the Vicky trade system where you said “I want my stockpile to contain X units of Y good, sell any surplus” so I guess having that under dumbass AI capitalist control abstracts that away better.

Look, I’m just happy as long as it’s not Vicky 1’s “all machine tools are only sold by Britain, in descending order of prestige”

Started a game as the Papal States now that I know the basics. They start with no 0 tax revenue in 1836 because they’re at a -170 bureaucracy deficit thanks to institutions and importing luxury goods.

I think someone needs to take a look at POP migrations, since I’ve had mass emigration of Yankee culture POPs to Lazio and Romagna now. That’s backwards! Why are 200,000 Americans suddenly all moving to Rome at once?

I’m giving Japan a go and successfully caused my entire country to revolt against the province of Kansai by abolishing serfdom. Whoops.

So, uh, how do I get the bakufu to go away and put Virtual Meiji in charge? You can’t kick them out of office and you can’t Suppress them because they’re in charge.
