SO DEMANDING posted:

i think this kind of music in and of itself is fine, it can be fun, but it feels like dozens of people all making the same 4-5 tracks over and over again. of the zillion songs there's maybe only 2 albums worth of interesting material.
pretty much any modern genre of music is like that though, they're all like a million remixes of whatever new ideas that genre brought, it's just some genres have more new ideas or freedom than others

synthwave has some 'good' tracks, but its only 'idea' is milking 80s nostalgia. it's such a limited genre that a 'good' track is the best you can possibly hope for

Aphex Twin is my favourite electronic artist ever since I first heard him like 30 years ago but I'm really not feeling anything he's put out in the last ~7 years. maybe there's just so many clones that have bitten his style that he sort of just blends in now, or maybe I'm just not a fan of his current dad funk phase.

I just miss the weirdness

and the playfulness

or the absolute gorgeous tunes (the second half 3:40 onwards of this track is prob my fave tunes ever, listening to it is like being nostalgic for something in a past life I can't remember)

all this guy's video's are bangers. what is this genre of music called? I remember John Peel (RIP) would play a lot of it when I was a kid and I hated it, but now I love the heck out of it
