If you're wondering why the transport choppers can't be killed that's why. Two of that specialist repairing make it nearly impossible to knock em out of the sky.

I feel like the best way to balance that stuff is to create a waiting period after a chopper is damaged during which they can't be repaired. That would force the chopper to need to get away from incoming fire, but the repairing would still be useful since it could return to combat very quickly.

Simple solution: don't allow in-flight repairs, or limit it to 1 seat. The helos have a ton of health and there are usually fewer people with rpgs.

I played a bit more, to see if I could adapt and like the classes system in this game, but my assessment stands. You can tell it was never ment to play this way. The balancing is completely off now.
Vehicles need a major armor debuff to account for the infantry being a lot less versatile.
It was possible to play the game alone and have fun, because you could yank out your rpg and while not kill a tank, they at least had to duck away. Now they see you and don't even flinch because they know exactly 3 specialists are a possible danger.
So now when you are alone, you just feel useless as soon as you face a vehicle and have to run away.

Plus the whole classes system relies on proper coordination. And there is no way to coordinate in this game beyond your squad.
Not having a server browser to reliably find the same people to play with means a classes system as restricted as this doesn't work for 2042.

I'd hope they go back to proper servers in the next game, but that costs more money than spinning up virtual instances on demand, so chances are extremely slim. I never understood why they don't let you rent servers anymore, there are enough people who would pay for it.

I mean, it'd be kinda stupid if a single guy could reasonably beat a vehicle. You're just proposing that vehicles be effectively removed from the game.

Edit: IMO the only vehicles with significant balance issues are passenger/stealth choppers and MAVs. Everything else can be reasonably dealt with.

I got an ea play subscription due to some work bullshit and decided to give 2042 another go, and while it's still probably the worst entry since bf: cops and robbers, its a whole lot better than it was on release.

Shooting is so-so but the game runs well and movement actually feels good, like it's so fukken funny to slidejump around a corner and blast people holding the angle in the back of the head before they can turn even halfway to face you

The weapon selection is still kind of pathetic but that's okay, cuz why bother using anything aside from the SFAR or SVK anyway. I don't think the former can lose a fair fight outside of a barrel in mouth confrontation with an smg. It seems strangely unpopular for something that feels ridiculously overpowered.

The game had the most players since launch yesterday (except for the december patch), so the dev team is succeeding at bringing players back. The class system needs balance, like Angel should be engineer if you ask me. Give me a reason to play Angel, I'll do it ok devs, I need something to work with here

if you aim it at your feet or get up against a wall and fire it, you'll self heal too, and it seems to be more reliable. As a bonus, doing it that way is also faster.

That's because ps+ got the game for free last Tuesday and it's a double XP weekend. So you get more people overall which attracts old players back.

Yeah, I should be able to drive around by myself instagibbing infantry and be functionally immune to 80% of players weapons; but also it should take a coordinated attack from multiple people with AT weapons to actually kill me... because otherwise vehicles would be useless and not just a force multiplier.

If you can't kill a rocket dude or break contact before they launch all their rockets you deserve to be dead.

If multiple people can hit you with rockets you deserve to be dead.

Not just inconvenienced.

Hopping back into this after being away for a while, pretty fun! Seems like some good changes to the balancing and it seems a lot smoother, graphics wise on PC (might just be imagining it).

What are the good guns to level up these days? I’m mostly a LMG guy, but also like SMGs and assault rifles (terrible sniper). I was playing with the LCMG and it seemed to bounce around a lot with the recoil, hard to keep it on target well. I don’t remember it being this bouncy so maybe it got some nerfs.

Kind of sucks all the guides online are super out of date because the game really fell off the radar of game tip sites keeping on top of the meta.

I blast them all over the place, get random heals XP a lot. I also prefire into the ground if I'm holding a corner of something to instantly get the heal if I take damage. But yeah, you can heal while sprinting if you shoot ahead of yourself.

Yeah, that thing, keep jabbing it into my arm and getting no healing from it. Hell, sometimes it feels like it resets the time to start auto regen and makes it take longer before I'm back at 100%

Can't say I've played Paik much but hacking infantry as Rao can generate a ton of spots as it spots all around the guy that was hacked. It's also extremely fast.

Vehicle hacking is a good temporary area of denial tool, especially against air.

The passive of spotting and highlighting I'm red whoever shot you is pretty good especially for targets far away, but kind of useless in crowded situations.

Eh, aiming at feet used to be better, but now I find it much less reliable (to the extent that the risk isn't worth any possible increase in speed). Holding 3 almost always works unless I get interrupted by something.

Around 4/5, but I always write a sensible explanation for the refund and I always request that the refund goes to my steam wallet rather than my paypal or whatever

Getting direct hits with the sticky nade legit makes me cackle. It's silly and fun and I spend entire maps just trying to get direct hits with it.

Reminds me of nailing snipers at like 250m or whatever with the recoiless back when getting distance markers was easier (pre dorito spotting). That was always good for a true lol
