i really loved the weird reload animations they had to research for BF1 so I hope they have a bunch of almost-improvised weapons similar to the Metro series for me to gawk at while i get sniped by 64 other players at once

im cautiously optimistic about the specialists. Its gonna be convenient being able to use any weapon with any gadget, but im a bit worried itll end up like BFV where everyone has the best anti-infantry and anti-vehicle setup at all times

God i hope they didn't ditch the dedicated ammo/health crates from BFV. It was so nice not having to chase down a pubbie and scream at them to hit their "give ammo" button every time i ran out of rockets

The maps were the biggest detriment for me. Way too many duds and it took them way too long to add more. Lets also not forget firestorm and what a huge waste that was.

All that being said tho, i still put hundreds of hours into BFV and had a good time. It was just one of the weaker battlefield games released and was noticably disappointing when compared to the immaculate BF1

On one hand, id say that of all the shooters, battlefield has always been leaps and bounds ahead in terms of sound design and the last thing they should do is add more gimmicky sound effects. On the other hand tho, BF1's headshot sound does certain things to me id rather not elaborate on so who knows

On a related note, I really wish I could adjust my loadout during the 10 second screen that shows who killed you, rather than having to wait until the Deploy screen to do it :argh:

as mentioned, 16 hours is nothing so dont sweat not being MVP every round or whatever. A lot of the 87-1 scores you see posted are from ppl with 500+ hours and theyre using vehicles which inflate stats big time. BF4 has a test range where you can try out every vehicle in the game by yourself and shoot at target dummies. Even with over 600 hours in BF4, I still fire it up every now and then to try out different loadouts and get a feel at how effective each vehicle is. Test range was a godsend when I taught myself how to fly the helicopters (im still terrible at them but at least I dont crash into the ground immediately)

map knowledge will get you very far so try to find a gamemode that gels with you and stick with it for a bit, since the playable areas in maps can change depending on the mode. Id recommend conquest 32/48 since the lesser amount of players makes it a bit less of a clusterfuck. Conquest is fun too since all you have to worry about is capturing points and not doing specific objectives or pushes like with rush or obliteration or whatever.

Looks like youre playing recon as well and thats probably the hardest class to do well with since snipers are pretty tough to use due to bullet travel and drop. Play how you want, but if you want an easier time id try focusing on support or engineer since their primary weapons are easy to use and they have tools to deal with vehicles that assault and recon can struggle with. Support is my personal favorite since you never have to worry about running out of ammo and you can attach c4 to atvs, jeeps, etc and ram them into enemy armor for very easy kills

the close quarters maps were so cool. Dice really put a ton of destructible debris in the maps so each shootout was like a John Woo movie. I hoped BF4 was gonna be like that but they really scaled it down for the interiors

ive been rocking the p90 a lot recently and it feels pretty drat good. 50 rd mags are great for any cqc weapon and if you slap a heavy barrel on it you can headshot dudes at some crazy ranges for a PDW

i think the point of the bots is to backfill the whole server. In this case it would be 46 dudes + 18 bots vs 45 dudes + 19 bots. So just look at how many real players are missing, and thats how many bots there are

its me, i want bots. Not only can I feel better about my shoddy KD by gunning down hapless AI, but it also makes the matches feel way more alive by having a full amount of players at all times. I hope the bots arent too distracting and overtake players PTFOing, but having background grunts that catch random sniper rounds or mortar shells while you push the point can really add to the whole battlefield chaotic vibe in a good way imo

also, given the skill level of random pubbies, im willing to bet ill get revived or resupplied more often by bots than by actual players

my problem with conquest is that there's no progression during any given match. I dont mean like unlocks, but more like a narrative progression.

When you play rush or operations, there's a clear beginning, middle, and end to each match. There are moments where it looks like a team is about to lose, but then they can clutch it and keep the match going. Its obvious when a team is at the final point and everyone throws everything they have to try and win the match

Compare with conquest where the only progression is start of the match control point madgrab -> middle match chaos and musical chairs. The round just keeps going till an arbitrary score or time limit is reached, then it just ends. There's nothing to signify the round is about to end other than the scoreboard and the tempo doesnt really change once the teams start fighting each other.

Things did get a bit better when destruction was added since now the maps end up as blasted hellscapes near the end, and BF1 added behemoths so it was apparent when one team was getting stomped. Still, I wish there was at least like a whole team retreat at the end, kinda like Titanfall, or something concrete to fight for instead of arbitrary point values; something where it was obvious when one team was about to win

Honestly, im not even sure what Dice could do without drastically changing what conquest is. Rush and operations are very linear modes for a reason, and adding something concrete to conquest without getting rid of its sandbox nature, would be tough. Carrier assault or titan mode comes to mind, but those also have their own problems

Ump 45 for engineer was my go-to for a long time. Pretty good damage for an smg and next to no recoil. Only downsides are that it has a slower rpm and only holds 25 rounds, but those are easy to play around since its so easy to hit most of your shots

Has EA said what theyre gonna show-off for BF2042 on Thurs? Im hoping for a long gameplay demonstration
