Am I imagining this or is there 0 way to see what team somebody is on when they are on a parachute?

The amount of times someone parachutes into a group of people and nobody notices it is an enemy until they start firing and kill one of the group is baffling.

I suspect its rather a massive brain drain coupled with the usual lack of documentation in every company these days because :effort: and people recruited straight from uni developing every new iteration of the game.

"Cheaper staff, higher profit > quality product and legacy" is the theme across all industries these days. Dice were just already there 3 BFs ago. True thought leaders in that regard.

I also just do not like how directionless it is. It's just people running randomly to points and no way as far as I can tell as an SL to direct your squad like other BF games. No one heals, no one drops ammo, barely any revives, pretty disappointing.

To be fair, an extremely important factor here is the broken squad functionality. There is no way to reliably join a squad and no ingame way whatsoever to join, change or leave one. And you can't pick a server.
As such coordinating is basically a crapshoot that is miles away from a feature. So don't judge it based on what you see in this beta.

If you don't play with people on voicecomm who actually communicate, i. e. aren't your average pubby, the only way to know what your squad already has is by looking at the class.

Engineer = anti tank/ammo
Medic = health

Specialist = whatever the gently caress they choose

Now decide what loadout complements your squad best?

You see here if you want to use an assault rifle, you have to be the assault class, no, you can't be a ammo man with an assault rifle because that doesn't fit into your pigeonhole.

There is a middle ground, just make the gadgets fixed to a class and let everyone use the gun they want. The gun doesn't really factor in as much as the kit loadout.

But apparently it has to be all or nothing, which is dumb.

Whatever HZ is the one thing it isn't to me is a proper Battlefield game.
Nothing wrong with that, but they should have made it a separate game.

I have a feeling between the "main game", Hazard Zone and Portal, focus is getting lost and something will be less good than if they made a game that knows what it wants to be.

I still have a preorder and that's not going anywhere. Beta was fun I just tend to not engage in hopeful theory crafting what will or will not be better. I'll take what I get, the settings is miles ahead of any "historical world war" in appeal for me.

And I guess people with negative impressions are always more vocal in all areas. Not much to say if your impression was positive outside of "I had fun".

Of course you can min max and only play the objectively best specilist, and be angry because there is one that is best so now you can't play any other because it's not the best.

Or you could not take a computer game that you don't play to save your life so seriously and play any specialist you want because they have a gadget that you think is fun.

If you are worrying about the "meta" in a BF game instead of just picking the gun that gels with your personal playstyle you are doing it wrong imho. This his not some competitive COD try-hard game.

And more importantly: Who cares what gun you are using while jihad jeeping anyway?

My guess is once XP is re-enabled in portal, people will just flock to the 64 player maps in there. Right now all the big maps seem to have 2-4 contested points and the rest almost never change hands.

And they really need to make it so you can play in a group with more people than just you squad. That is the biggest bullshit ever. We can't even have 10 goons on discord play on the same server. Why play BF at all if that's not possible?

If I read the system monitor right, BF2042 uses 10 native/physical CPU cores on my system.
So 4 and 6 core CPUs are heavily bottlenecking, and maybe 8 cores without HT might get hiccups.

I saw some speculation online somewhere that the PC port is broken and utilises only 8 Cores because the consoles only have 8 Cores and they failed to adjust it properly so some/all PCs can't properly use however many cores/threads the CPU has.

I have a ryzen 5 2600x with 6 physical cores = 12 threads and it struggles badly. Haven't checked how the individual cores/threads are used though.

You need all 3 c5 on it and then hit the upper part of the vehicle: tank turret, AA turret, hovercraft rotor or passenger compartment, jeeps passenger compartment.

If you hit wheels or tracks it won't detonate, you might even get stuck under the vehicle. tank body is also unreliable but touch the turret and boom.

Haven't found a way to impact detonate on the Ospreys, I flew the drone into its sides and even the cockpit and it wouldn't go boom. Maybe the engines but those are very hard to hit.

For me the biggest issues is still the inability to add more than 4 players to your party. This game is brand new and the number of my eurogoon group playing it has never been this low so close after release for a BF game. Even if there are 6 people playing at the same time, you can't even get all on one server.

It's just no fun this way, especially since you can't make any difference on your own or even with 4 people against 64 others.

Yeah squad size doesn't matter if you can reliably get people on the same server. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what makes people migrate to Portal in droves very soon.

Not too frequent in my experience on PC. After tweaking the performance with the video in this thread I can play with a stable 60 fps in WQHD and while I have played a good bit, I only had 1 instance where I couldn't be revived, 1 where I couldn't let myself die or be revived and had to restart. The most frequent bug is hit registry but even that is not really bad.

However, YMMV especially with a :dice: game and probably depending on playstyle.
