This is a thread where people can share anime songs they like, discuss artists who make music for anime, link covers of anime songs, etc. I'll keep this OP mostly reserved for general resources. And remember, an anime doesn't have to be good to have good music. Past/Related threads: The Doujin Music Thread is still open. Closed threads like this one include:

To kick this thread off, I want to talk about Lia. She is a singer who has been doing work for 20 years, and her voice was sampled to make the vocaloid "IA". In the world of anime, she's most famous for her work on projects by the visual novel studio Key, and I think her songs fit the bittersweet mood Key projects tend to have. 鳥の詩 / Tori no Uta / "Bird's Poem" was the opening to the 2000 Key game and 2005 anime "Air": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtJnix-9niI "Tori no Uta [the speed freak's noise rave remix]" by DJ Sharpnel is a song sampling Tori no Uta which got popular in its own right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anAH4CjJu8I "My Soul, Your Beats!" was the opening to the 2010 Key anime "Angel Beats!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIFV8UUs1-c "days" is the ending to 2014 anime Mekakucity Actors (which started as a series of vocaloid songs using IA): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sPDPr3S7Zg "Bravely You" was the opening to 2015 Key anime "Charlotte" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhRsyIGN-cA dirby fucked around with this message at 14:11 on Jun 13, 2021 |

Mister Facetious posted:And probably my favorite opening of any show; it really gets you in that D&D fantasy mood for kicking rear end and throwing fireballs, and that jump into the chorus just makes me go, "gently caress yeah!" every time: They're close, but I think I like the opening to the original Slayers, "Get Along", a little more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7e3hjvcXWM Both are sung (at least in part) by Megumi Hayashibara (林原 めぐみ), who was one of the most famous anime voice actresses especially around the 90s: She was Lina from Slayers, Rei from Evangelion, female Ranma, Faye from Cowboy Bebop, Lucy from Macross Plus, etc. She still voices characters today (e.g. Shuichi Saihara from Danganronpa V3) For anime songs, she also sang the upbeat opening to Love Hina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXoUJ65veq4 More recently, she sang the jazzy second opening for Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1xxtP88exA
