one nice thing about the present is that we still have the old stuff too

you can go buy a 70s malaise-mobile right now, and not have to live in the 70s to do it

in fact you have to if you want a car not bogged down with safety features

I used to think power steering was a luxury, but it's simply a necessity to turn wheels on today's bloated behemoths often called automobiles

imagine losing the freedom to buy a new car in america after 2017 without a reversing camera.. oh wait you don't need to imagine

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
thats a 70s malaise myth

the cars still had relatively fine torque. They were just choked out on airflow and exhaust by all the stupid bandaid emissions specs.

torque makes it feel accelerate-ey
horsepower lets you drive at high speeds

and if you recall, they choked down the interstate limit to 55 then, so who would ever need it?

if you look at a 76 stingray or whatever it still has 300 ft-lb of torque (the number that actually puts your butt back in the seat), it just couldn't spin. above like 3500 rpm all the motors were choked out and gasping

take a late 70s v8 sled, rip off all the stock garbage that doesnt work any more anyways, put $500 of edelbrock intake manifold and headers on it and it's back up to three hunnert horsepower

idk, i drove plenty of poo poo from the 70s, some of which had engines rebuilt to more or less original specs, and they all sucked balls performance-wise.
