Season 23 starts July 7th on CBS and Paramount+. This is the Spoiler thread, so anything in the episodes or on the live feeds will be fair game! It's the summer TV season again, which means it's time for Big Brother. So what is Big Brother? Big Brother (BB) is the original and superior source of 24/7 voyeurism on American televisions. The weekly CBS show features footage taken from live feeds of the Big Brother House. What's the big deal about the house? It's a reality game show which forces 15+ people to live together in a house during the summer, all while competing for power to kick other people out of the house and thus out of the game. All with the goal of being the final House Guest selected as the best player and worthy of the $500,000. The 90+ cameras in the BB house capture all manner of insanity and "reality" when it comes to the House Guests. Meaning what you see on TV is barely half the story. Massive amounts of plotting and scheming are never aired, allowing the TV editors to craft whatever story they want for the viewing audience. Only the feed watchers or readers get the best take on what's really happening in the house. Interested in seeing the true story of Big Brother 23? Various sites provide recaps and running updates submitted by viewers of what's going on: Big Brother Network HamsterWatch Online Big Brother CBS provides live streaming HD coverage through the new Paramount+ service. http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/live_feed/ The official website also provides live feed clips of content not seen on TV. http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/ This season's twist/hook: "The Big Brother Beach Club" - A casino vacation. We're back to an all newbies season under the casting of a new casting director. Will promises of more diversity and better vetting actually have happened? Tune in to find out! For the theme, we'll have a team game for the first time in a several years. The producers say they want to try to shake things up and avoid groupthink and safe gameplay. Again, we'll have to see how it goes. "This season, our theme is full of risk-versus-reward dilemmas. We're dialing up the risk, hoping and anticipating the houseguests are faced with decisions they've never really had to make in the Big Brother house before. [...] There will be a twist that forces them to play in teams. They're going to be vying to be team captains as well as Head of Household." FAQ: Q - I bought Paramount+ and all I see on the Live Feeds is fish/trivia? A - Though it is billed as 24/7, the live feeds will not run during several specific instances: Any time a competition is ongoing, any time nominations are held, legal requirements and/or for control booth interaction. Legal requirements can include when the houseguests start to sing, the HGs talk about a family member by name who didn't sign a release or some other legally grey area. Generally the booth will cut in to warn the HGs or provide some guidance for some ongoing issue. Q - Is it even worth it to spend $$$ on the feeds? A - With Big Brother part of Paramount+, you get more bang for your buck. You'll get both the live feeds, access to the existing CBS/Paramount library and new shows like the Star Trek series. in addition to the feeds you'll have access to every episode of the U.S. edition of Big Brother, all for $4.99 per month (with ads and no local CBS) or $9.99 per month (with local CBS and limited ads). If you're wanting access to that library, it might help your decision. Otherwise also note that the purchase is a recurring charge, so you'll need to cancel when the season is over. Q - Can the feeds really make that big a difference in how you see an HG? A - Ask anyone who watched previous seasons, this is pretty much rinse and repeat at this point. Often times controversial statements regarding gender/race/sexuality never see the light of day on the broadcast show. Instead they are relegated to the live feeds only, and serve as the only way to really see what type of people the house guests are. Teek fucked around with this message at 15:35 on Jul 8, 2021 |

I think rumors were that today (6/30) would be cast release. I'm hopeful we can get something in the next day or two to really get the hype going for this season. I'm hopeful that they've learned something from last season's mess and put together a good cast. Not holding my breath though, but I'll still hatewatch obviously.

Cast reveal: https://ew.com/tv/big-brother-season-23-cast-photos-bios https://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/cast/ Looking fairly diverse, like a majority non-white? Oldest are 34 and 40. Also, putting it out there for those who read these threads. Stick with the dual episode/spoiler thread split, or just go ahead and combine them? Anyone that tied to a separate episode thread? I think the last couple of seasons might have cured me of the addiction. But my DVR is recording the premiere automatically and I happen to be subscribed to Paramount+ anyway (although its through Amazon so I dunno how that works with feeds) so who knows? Maybe I'll get sucked in like always? I'm sure there will be some compelling underdog narrative or likeable person under the inevitable boring, nasty house majority. The first few weeks are always the best part.

I haven't read anything about it really. I guess its teams again like BB14 and 11? I guess that could help avoid "the house". I'm not sure more diverse casting alone would solve that problem, although it could help if they avoided just recruiting the friends of ex HGs giving them "how to be a reality tv star" tips. I dunno. A lot of it is luck of who wins those first few HOHs and their house standing. I'm an addict so I'll probably get sucked in. But I dunno. I'm tired of watching assholes win. Like in general.

Just to inject a little bit of optimism here: I watched BBCAN9 this spring and I thought it was really fantastic. Big Brother Canada has generally been better than Big Brother U.S., but 9 was one of the best of North American BB seasons I've watched. It addressed a lot of the biggest fan concerns from the past few years (diverse cast, less physical and more varied challenges to prevent one group of people from winning everything, less Secret Powers twists) and it all paid off. I know there's no good reason to expect the US season to follow suit, but we already have the diverse cast and some of the pre-season interviews the producers have been giving seem to acknowledge the "one big alliance" problem. The blueprint for a great season to fix these issues is right across the border, so here's hoping they're capable of looking for it!

I didn't mean to be a downer on things. An overhaul of the casting process and an acknowledgment of the problem are all really good first steps. How they work out we'll have to see. The team thing does seem like a concentrated effort to divide up loyalties and make it harder for a clique to just take control. That helps for sure. HOHs are always a crap shoot (and the ones that aren't are crowd favorites so you don't wanna get rid of them). But it dos seem like there's plenty of reason for optimism.

Christie got Covid. She has the vaccine and is not having any symptoms, but it looks like that was enough to keep her out and replace her: https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/big-brothers-christie-valdiserri-tests-positive-for-covid-before-premiere/ Also, house pics: https://ew.com/tv/big-brother-23-living-room-photos-video/ It looks like pics of different rooms were exclusively given to different websites? So dumb.

At least she was a recruit seems like? Maybe it's not a dream for her, would be hard for an applicant who had really wanted to get on the show. It would have been nice to have her own though anyway, since she could be a voice for those with alopecia.

This season falls into a weird limbo where it can't possibly be worse than BB22 but it also has to contend with how great BBCAN9 was. Not a lot of info to go off of right now but I'm interested to see how a live move-in works with new people.

Premiere was good, and I generally like the cast. I can already tell that Team Kings is going to be worst, so it was satisfying to watch them get Have Nots. I also like the extensive measures they undertook to prevent the stale gameplay loop of the past few seasons. There seems to be real potential here.

I need Brittany to be targeted asap. I can't listen to any feeds with her in the room. Also Sarah beth. They really found some shrill voices this year. Overall the cast looks awesome so far, find myself liking over half of the cast which is rare.

apparently Frenchie is big into BB twitter and as a result wants to pull crazy stunts for the fans, such as: have Brent help him write a nomination speech and then backdoor Brent and deliver the speech Brent wrote while doing it. He's already naming it the Eulogy. He's also stated he's not going to target any women or people of color which is kind of cool for a first HOH, but hopefully he doesnt let identity dictate all his decisions as the game develops just to try to please BB twitter. There's an alliance called Slaughterhouse with a core of Azah, claire, and hannah at the core, and probably some more people to come. anyway I am not watching the feeds, this is just stuff I heard.

As far as Frenchie goes I did notice "#BLM" written on the back window of his truck during his intro package, so it's possible he just has genuine feelings about the show's history and wants to be a part of changing it. In other news, Claire really reminds me of someone that I can't place, and I expect it to drive me crazy as long as she's in the house.

People are saying he’s the worst player of all time and more erratic than Devin bro. apparently all the action is blowing feedsters minds. Another thing is that they only went into the house on Wednesday night so in a normal season feeds wouldn’t even be on yet but this time, for this madness, they are. Truly feeds watchers are living the dream. Fast Luck fucked around with this message at 23:38 on Jul 9, 2021 |

They did the same thing last season? I think? We only missed a few hours, although that still was confusing because BB players just make stuff up. I still haven't watched the premiere and have no idea who anyone is but just browsing Twitter it feels like you could play mad libs with this. The HOH talked a big game but made a mess of things. There's a clear social core forming. Expendable "outsiders" get nominated. Some rando being scapegoated as the secret mastermind. A bunch of people patting themselves on the back for playing calm while the game is happening in another part of the house. I might try and catch up tonight to see how wrong I am.
