I totally agree with their bottom two. The Little Buff Boys champion sketch (not the original, one with the former champion) was a load of nothing. The guy from Detroiters deserved better. The Credit Card Game sketch was awful, I straight up loathe John Early (thanks to his torturous episode of The Characters, a show you should check out Tim Robinson's episode on because it's a bonus episode of ITYSL), and unlike every other bit on the show, it has no follow-up to the absurd social situation. The rest of the list only makes me realize that while most sketch comedy shows are at best 50% hit, 50% miss, ITYSL is like 95% hit.

Ha I wasn't a massive fan of either, so I like that if you like one you probably like the other.

Baby of the year just has so many jokes I can't help but love it. That first episode is just gold from top to bottom really.

Yeah, exactly. Buff Boys might be one if my least favourite, but thinking about "goose suit" and "carve of beef" makes me laugh. This show just has an insane batting average.

Rewatching the season, The Shark Tank parody is so good. I didn't think they could find a way to match Patti Harrison's line deliveries from the first season, but they did.

This is the one that doesn’t really land for me, though I might end up liking it more when I binge through the show another six or seven times.

The thing is that “awkward and interminable” is the guiding principle of the show, so it can be unclear why and when something doesn’t exactly work.

Season 2 didn't land for me as well as season 1. I think its because I felt that the sketches seemed less varied in style and concept. There was a much greater reliance on the main character of the sketches erupting into rage and swearing. It felt like it was almost every sketch, whereas it only happened a few times in season 1. Overall, still great though.

Yeah, this killed a lot of the sketches for me this go-round. It's weird, cause last season was a little repetitive too -- I don't know how many sketches had something obvious happening and then Tim spending five minutes coming up with farfetched denials (hot dog, push/pull door, choking, dog humping, etc) -- but this season a lot of them just felt kinda boring and predictable. It definitely had some great ones, but the hit/miss ratio was a lot lower this time.

I don't know if they'll ever be able to top the Bones are their Money song anyway. I still sing that one in the shower sometimes.

yeah with that one it's all the little weird details - like the pediatrician is named Dr. Skull, the increasingly angry host (just the way he tells the one judge to "Shut! Up!" gets me every time), "If Taffy Lee Fubbins isn't named Best Baby of the Year I'll kill myself on live tv" "Stop saying that!", it's been going on for six months.

This season did lean a little too heavily on the "Tim Robinson gets increasingly irrational and deluded" routine instead of the surreality of season 1 but there are a lot of great moments still.

Wow, a cow made of butter. My girls would love it. In fact, the first sentence Caroline ever said was "I like butter"
I know this is the wrong place to complain but I really want this show to click for me. I love Tim & Eric, I really love Nathan for You, and I'm glad that Netflix is trying non-sitcom comedy. The setups have me laughing pretty hard, but somehow, I'm cold after the first 60 seconds. I can kind of go, "I know where this is going: the other characters in the scene will realistically point out the silly premise, Tim Robinson will go into angry denial, they will point out he is being unreasonable, and he will deny more until he is forcibly removed." It's like an improv scene with every actor saying "no".
I would just suck it up and say I have a different sense of humor, but I've never heard this much lavish praise in the media for any comedy show, ever. My friends are quoting it like it's Borat and 2007. Now I'm wondering if I'm super out of touch, or looking at it from the wrong angle?
Like the Ghost Tour bit, I had enough clues in the first 45 seconds to realize that it would be the same joke for the next 5 minutes, until the other characters get tired of it and kick him out. The Focus Group guy is the closest thing to my sense of humor because everyone hated Paul instead, when I expected it to be the same formula... but then the later sketches go back to the formula.
I'm not sure what it is. Maybe I'm used to having more suspension of disbelief for comedy? There's some long articles about the "political implications" of a guy who's denying something over and over until he gets what he deserves. Maybe people are just laughing at the idea of that guy finally getting owned.

The sketches vary but I feel like the default situation was the main character being put in an awkward situation that is absurd and incomprehensible to them. The second season default situation was the main character having a normalish problem and then having people try to help them in absurd and incomprehensible ways.

I feel like which season a person likes better is which side of that anxiety they relate to better.
