I know the Irish team is made up of a lot of guys who were either spotted young-ish, or couldn't make it in the main provincial teams, but in either case they were identified as having potential to make it in the 7s game rather than the traditional game.

There's a couple of tiers of international tournaments (Ireland only recently made it to the top-ish level) played year round, so I'd imagine most teams are made up of guys training for and playing 7s only.

(Even if they all grew up and were pulled out of the normal 15s route.)
