are you talking about like a directional stance vs. a duck footed stance? it's all just preference. In the videos I watch where they do really fast downhill boarding, it looks like an optimal position for being aerodynamic, but they also lean their whole body forward and put their back foot at an odd sort of angle. pretty much. speed stance is meant for speed. with your back leg tucked you can face your center of gravity directly downhill rather than horizontally for extra control. it's way more comfortable to hold a speed stance than it is to squat and look sideways for a 3+ minute run so there's that too
