are you talking about like a directional stance vs. a duck footed stance? it's all just preference.

I don't think it makes much sense if you're just cruising, but as long as you're having fun and don't hurt yourself, who cares

pretty much. speed stance is meant for speed. with your back leg tucked you can face your center of gravity directly downhill rather than horizontally for extra control. it's way more comfortable to hold a speed stance than it is to squat and look sideways for a 3+ minute run so there's that too
