cjs: Wondering if somebody will have questions for me because I finished the Data Security training that had an estimated duration of one hour in only eight minutes. I mean, hey, if your training website lets me skip all the videos and click as fast as I can through the text slides, this is bound to happen! Yesterday I had to re-up my harassment/discrimination training, which is geared toward supervisors and I have to do even though I don't supervise somebody for some reason, and I finished speeding through the slides after 20 minutes. Then I had to leave the window open for the next 100 minutes because the mandatory minimum time is two hours. Thankfully, it saved my "progress" when my session timed out.

last time they pushed mandatory view training courses i downloaded all the videos and watched them on vlc at 130% speed or whatever because the dude was readin' those slides SO SLOW

protip: a lot of training vids have accessibility features that help a lot for speed-ingesting them: some have transcripts you can read instead of watching a video, and a lot have speed settings in-app

yeah the last one of those i did had an accessibility option to download all the lecture content as one big pdf. so i did that and went to the quiz and ctrl-F'd the answers. i mean, someone who isn't me did this, i heard.

yeah but that's not universal or a requirement around the company. im doing my part to try to push accessibility for internal stuff, as i do make videos to train our support folks now and then, and constantly am on zooms with them. as a lot of the stuff i deal with is in terminal windows i make sure that any terminal command type slides are in at least like 24 point font and copy/pastable for people with vision issues and the other big thing is that if you're teaching somebody something, do not fuckin use the macbook built in mic
