A game that works like a tabletop rpg, just with a good interface. Something to create adventures that aren’t static, or even modify adventure modules or stories written by others, so long as the game itself allows the opportunity for players to be as creative in their solutions as they want. The key point would be to assist your creativity, as player or Game Master, something so easy to direct from your imagination to your creation that it would be as fun to build content as it is to play it. Make it so worlds are easier to create than even Minecraft allows, with non player characters who can be template until a GM takes them over to make them more interesting because the players keep interacting with them. Maybe even possible to run with only one GM who mainly deals with off the wall choices of the player characters party, so unless the party splits up, the GM only has to monitor one interaction at a time. Another possibility would be to give actual humans a chance to roleplay and fight as any other monster or NPC role available in whatever table top system the game is based around, something like assistant GM, but with its own aspect of playing rather than administering. In this vein: Dungeons and dragons where you can be anyone, any alignment, any monster, or even the dungeon master. For your friends or the public. Cyberpunk (that’s not broken) with characters, jobs and PvP, all interacting as an MMO. One of the Alien games, where your goal is to take over planets growing your brood. Switching roles from strategic resource management as you secretly establish the hive, to missions where you expand, fight back against attempts at extermination and explore the planet. Playable as humans or predators as well even. Vampire Bloodlines with the rest of the White Wolf playable werewolves, hunters, mages and changelings, all interacting in a World of Darkness overseen by volunteer GMs who are having just as much fun as the players. Failing all this, I’ll take any tabletop IP made into a good game, especially any edition of Shadowrun. I really liked that IP when I was a kid in the form of the Super Nintendo game, then after I found the books for the tabletop, I liked it even more. Edit: Holy poo poo Warhammer that can go from MMO to massive battle simulator in RTS or turn by turn style! Solvent fucked around with this message at 19:31 on Aug 30, 2021 |

If resources or technology were not an issue I don't think I would care about video games ever again.

I thought of this when I almost just posted “Westworld, but real”. I think that was the whole point of that show. The game Westworld was just a last gasp of humanity and our primitive desires before a technological singularity.

Basically Sins of a Solar Empire but the only thing that's different is that instead of ships and structures fading into existence as they're built (boring) the ships and structures are constructed in timelapse all the way from a skeleton to a finished product and we get to see the engines being put in etc... Also just no more "fading in" of buildings or units in general because that's boring and lazy as poo poo. Command and Conquer style should be the bare minimum for structures coming into being.

I would bait and switch a really big publisher to do an adaptation of Dune that's not attached to Villneuve's movie, just to have an excuse for hiring Mike Myers as Fat Bastard does his version of Lynch Dune Baron Harkonnen, and it's an FMV game that somehow winds up having a physical Sega CD version release.

Yakuza cross Ace Attorney with a MMO sized world map. Alternatively, Endless Ocean meets Subnautica with the only killing being for survival purposes (hunting for food, fending off an ambitious predator). Explore old shipwrecks for treasure, discover sunken cities, find new species, occasionally see the ghost of an extinct plesiosaur or something.

Pokemon Snap but with real-world animals/plants and it goes on forever. Like you can watch generations of animals be born, play, hunt, pair up and eventually die. Find secretive animals, gain their trust, name them, follow their lives, photograph them, observe the landscape and balance of nature slowly changing over the decades. You could do this in real life but it would be extremely time consuming and probably depressing.Blue Footed Booby posted:I just want a game to make me feel the way Morrowind did when I was 13.

I want some sort of 3rd / 1st person shooter or RPG set in a big expansive city - think GTA5 or Cyberpunk - but every single building is explorable. No shop fronts that are just a texture, no unhackable doors, no fake empty models for the skyscrapers. Most buildings are predictably not important to the plot or main quests, but are filled realistically with furniture and other poo poo from daily life. Hand crafted spaces are mixed with procedural generation so every single apartment you don't know what you will see. Mix in at least passable basic interactions for when you enter something like a shop front or a gang controlled highrise, and it would be the most immersive sim ever.
