Small market futility is a myth perpetuated by the owners and gobbled up by fans who don't care to understand what's going on. Super Teams is only a thing in the NBA, and only because the players force their way out of town to go play with their friends. And even then, there is still only so many roster spots. In every other sport that kind of a thing isn't plausible because the players don't have as much of a direct impact on the game, and again there are only so many roster spots.
